For performance 215-45-17 or 225-45-17

I've checked out a lot of threads but haven't found the exact answer I'm looking for.

I want new much stickier tires than stock. I'd rather not get a wider rim if it's not needed (rather stay stock and save $). But if I have to to fit the tire, I would get 17x7.5 or whatever is needed.

So, what is the optimal performance tire/wheel size for a Si sedan? I live in Cali, so I don't need all-season; summer tire is what I'm looking for. I've been looking at Pilot Sport 2s, but they are in 225. Is that okay to fit to the stock rims, or is it too wide? Could something mess up on a corner that was really pushing it? Would just getting a different brand 215-45-17 be better?

If I go with that and then get the HFP suspension, would I be able to pull over a g on corners? (assuming the right conditions)

Get the PS2s. They are an amazing tire. They fit fine and work with the HFP Suspension. Check out the "Perfect Tires" thread for pictures.

And the 225-45-17s will fit fine on the stock rims? The very small extra sidewall height won't make too much difference?

I guess my other question is say I have a 7" wide rim and an 8" wide rim. Will there be more rubber making contact with the road if the tire was mounted on an 8" rim or does that not matter?

Should fit fine from what I've read too. I plan to do 225/45/17 summer tires with Sportlines very soon myself.
