Help finding wheels to match factory non-SI tires
Hey, I just bought a new 2008 Civic Coupe LX about three weeks ago, and I'm loving it. The only thing I'm not totally in love with that I wish I could do something about it is the factory wheels. Right now, they're steelies with covers, and the dimensions according to the manual are 16 x 6.5. I've looked a pretty decent amount and am nearing the conclusion that 16 x 6.5 is a wheel size that is very rarely made or used by aftermarket companies. While I don't have a problem with replacing the wheels to bigger sizes, buying brand new tires isn't exactly in my budget or something I want to do. The tires I have right now haven't even been used for 500 miles, so I'd like to keep using them as long as I can.
So my question to those who know way more than me about this: is there a particular place I can look to find wheels that would find on factory non-Si Civic tires? Is there another size of wheels I can use with the factory tires that would work? I know very little about how tires fit on certain dimensions, or if its possible/advisable to use smaller tires on wheels bigger than they were meant for. If anyone could provide some assistant or guidance, any help would be appreciated. Also, the factory wheel sizes according to the manual are P205/55R16 89H, if that helps. Thanks in advance. ![]() |

You can always buy a 16x7 inch rim and stretch the OEM tires over them.
Or you can find another pair of OEM civic rims that are prob 16x6.5 to upgrade the appearance over steelies. IMO, if you cant afford new tires along with new rims, you shouldn't be replacing either at all because it's such a waste of money. |

Its not that I can't really afford new tires, its that I have no absolutely no reason to go about replacing the ones I have now when they are at the very beginning of their life, and will be usable for quite some time at the rate that I drive. I love the car, and there are plenty of other things that I plan to modify, both exterior, interior, and performance wise, but I want to get the majors out of the way so I can focus on the other things. Are there any major problems that I might face by stretching my tires over bigger wheels? If I had to guess, just more wear faster? |

dont buy new wheels just to fit some new tires. Just wait till the stock tires get wore out and just get better rims with rubber to match or just get new wheels and tires now and store away the stock wheels for the winter or for whenever u need. Im sure u could score some used si wheels pretty cheap and maybe even with tires and there u go

more exposed rim (if curbed will be more severe than with a wider tire) slightly lower profile (due to the need to stretch tire on wider rim) What is the size of your tire? |
