As far as the 18's affecting performance: The shorter sidewall that should go along with going to 18's will help handling response and make the ride more stiff. If you go with 225 width tires you'll have more grip than stock as well. However, if you get 18's that weigh more than your stock wheels (23 lbs.) then the car will accelerate and brake slower and the shocks will work slightly less effeciently (depending how heavy the wheels are). ![]() |

as for rim size performance shop reccomended use of 18x8 with 45offset now I'm kind of suspicious would love that aggressive look but like I said Ive seen a little evidence of rubbing on the inner fender lining(plastic) would it be safe to use that size and would it be flush or really well tucked rim? My stock rims are just about tucked with sportlines 1.4 inch drop all around

I'm dropped on Tein S Tech and I have 18" wheels with 225/40/18 and I rub in the front of the car when I hit small bumps or when I go too fast on dips or what not. It doesn't show on the tire, but I can hear it rub again the inner fender. I was almost tempted to remove the inner fender but I didn't think that would have been a good idea.

As far as the 18x8's, the tire width will matter as well. If you go with 225's, then you'll only need a 7.5" width. And if you go wider you will rub. I currently have 18x7.5's with 225/40/18's and +42mm offset on stock springs. I have never had the slightest hint of rubbing, and (take it for what it's worth) it looks like I'll be fine with my planned Pro-kit drop. That still doesn't help you too much since you've got that sportline drop, but if you really want 18's and no rubbing you might want to consider getting Pro-kit springs or something less aggressive |

xxbodkinxx was running 18x8 +45 offset with 225/40/R18 set up on his FA5 before (Works XD9). He said that he was rubbing the first few thousand miles but after that never had rubbing issues. He was dropped on Prokits so the extra drop of the sportsline might be making a difference.
