Si Wheels on an EX: Good or Bad Idea?

To those of you who have put the Si wheels on the EX/LX/DX, did you notice a drop in acceleration and/or gas mileage?

I ask because the Si wheels weigh 23 pounds, around 3-4 pounds heavier than the EX wheels. Obviously, heavier wheels will take more energy to accelerate and brake than lighter wheels. I'm debating whether to put the Si wheels on my EX.

I have some 19 pound 5Zigen Super Sixes on there now. They're lighter than the Si wheels, but I think I like how the Si wheels look better.

Thanks for any input you can offer.

I wanted to do thesame thing on my sedan. But after I got my Konig Unknowns, I didn't want the Si wheels then. Nice choice of color on your car btw. What color tint did you get. I hope carbon. I like both wheels. I'll say rotate em. Have one of them on for a while, then change them up 2 months later or so.

I haven't seen any noticable difference in the areas you mentioned. No regrets at all!!

I got 3M 20% carbon tint. Like it so far.

$188 for the rear windows plus limo tint on the moon roof.

Any more comments on the effect of the heavier Si wheels on mpg and acceleration?

Thanks!

I have Si wheels on my EX Coupe and I noticed no difference at all. It's only a few pounds difference, so I don't think it makes much difference. The wider, stiffer, lower-profile tires greatly improve the ride and handling of the car IMO.

Also keep in mind that Si wheels may not fit perfectly on other model Civics. You may need a set of 3mm wheel spacers on the front so the wheels don't touch the brake mounting brackets.

Yep. Got them off eBay for $12 shipped. Thanks for the advice.

I think that when the Sedan comes out, you'll probably see the same or similar wheel on the Si Sedan. You may wish to wait for that model to come out.
