Boinked my Aftermarket Rim & popped a tire =(
Now with pics!!!
So I'm really a nice guy aside from what some think of me. This morn I'm dropping my daughter off at school in my '07 EX. Usually we walk cause it's only a 1/4 mile. But today we drove. I'm in the line to drop them off which extends out into the street. I'm waiting to turn right with Right of Way into the school, while 2 cars coming the other way are wanting to turn left and are blocking traffic coming the other way. I wave them both through. First one gets it, and goes. Second lady doesn't get it, and after the 3rd or fourth hand motion waving her to go...I decide to just go. So does she. I have to cut hard right earlier than expected to avoid the would-be benefactor of my benevolence. BAM-bam. Hit the curb. Especially hard up front. I continue forward slowly, and after less than a minute, I'm dropping off my daughter and some european mother who speaks no english is pointing at my tire. I get that there's a problem when even a woman who doesn't speak english notices a problem! I pull over across into the nearest spot 30 feet away in between the handicapped space, and the Principal's space =) I now have a little bend on the lip of the rim(not out of round, just a little cosmetic bend right on the lip) with some finish scraped off of my Gun metal wheels at the point of impact. To top it off, there's a sizeable hole in the sidewall of my tire. So this is what I get for being a nice guy! Anyway, just ordered a replacement tire from OnlineTires.com - Buy Tires and Wheels Online. Michelin, Goodyear, Dunlop, Bridgestone Tires. I usually order from tire rack, but they only had the tire in their Lousiana warehouse, and I'm in California. Online tires was actually cheaper too. Same tire was $8 less ($65 vs. $73). Had to pay tax since I live in CA also. But total price is $78 shipped instead of $91 shipped, and I get it tomorrow =) All told, I lose a hundred bux, and 2 hours of my time for being a nice guy. I'll still be getting my rims for my Si from the tirerack though. Don't worry Spencer. Last edited by civicracer32; 02-27-2008 at 04:10 PM. |

How much$?
Do you have paypal? $5.00 a pic. ![]() Actually, I pounded it out with a sledge and a towel, and a giant boxed/crecsent wrench. Used some galaxy gray mixed with Alabaster silver touch up paint mixed together. Came out pretty good. I don't waste any time fixing this kind of crap. If I had a good camera I take some closeups. Right now, I'm a 2 megapixel guy =(. I've bent back many a rim in my tire shop/home garage days. Have to be careful not to get too greedy. They don't like to bend all the way back to where they were without cracking. You can usually get them almost all the way there though. That's where I stopped. And before anyone else does... ![]() |
