Perfect Tires

I found the perfect tire upgrade for the stock Si wheels......
The Nitto NT555 Extreme, the ONLY tire in a performance size 225/40zr/r17... I would encourage others to look into this tire if you seek a tire to change to that is a great bang for the buck. It averages @ $120 per tire at many different sites. I originally wanted the B/F kdw2, but a little more than i am willing to spend on tires. Does anyone here have this tire already? If so what do you think about it?

I would not recommend this tire with the stock Si 17x7 wheel. It is 1/2" shorter than stock but the real problem is the 7.5" to 9.0" rim range.

man, i have been doing a lot of research and my tire guy also agrees that this is a great size to fit the car, i also have the Eibach pro-kit, so that is why i did not want to go w/ a 225/45/r17 and a 235/40/r17 i felt would work, but it would be close...

u can either go with 215/40/17 or 225/40/17. personally, i would get 215/45/17 on stock rims.

not on a regular basis, i go to the track maybe 3-5 times a year. Mostly enjoy spirited driving- curvy roads, quick acceleration, a street run every once and a while if no one is around and play on the interstate again if area is clear. I try not to put myself in dangerous position...I used to be into 1/4 mile performence but now i'm leaning towards auto x ing

so on wheels that are the size of 17x7 with 45mm offset, 225/45/17 size tires WOULD NOT be a good thing?. Cause thats what I was planning on going with.

225/45 is way too fat for the the stock rim IMO.

many people replace the OEM 215/45 tires with 225/45/17 tires. the width is perfect and the sidewall is slightly larger....not much at all.
there is absoluly no reason to go with 225/40 tires though. smaller sidwall FTL.

225/45/17 on stock wheel is perfect if on stock suspension. My concern is rubing in hard cornering or with a full car load. So that is MY reason for going with the 225/40/17 wider w/ a hair bit less side wall. I should have no trouble with anything.

it's actually a .2" difference. nothing huge.. just makes your 17's look kinda smaller

I'm not asking about 225/45/17 size tires for the stock OEM Si wheels. I'm asking about that size for some Enkei GTC01's I bought like 5 weeks ago that are sitting here at my place waiting for tires. They're 17x7 45mm. I know thats the same size as the OEM Si wheels. What do you guys think?, good to go?. I want to get the HFP suspension drop soon aswell. You think that I'll rub after the springs?

225/45/17 Michelin PS2s on stock wheels with HFP Suspension. Plenty of room. Second picture 1 day after drop.

I'll hook u up with a set for cheap. They even look just like our stock michelins on the sidewall, so the cops wont mess with you.

WOW!, thank you so much for the pix!. 2 things I needed to know the look of. 225's on 17x7 45mm wheels AND with the HFP suspension.

Can you elaborate a bit on pro's and con's IF ANY? And maybe a couple more pix of the setup, MAINLY from the front angle?. I'd like to see how the 225's pinch out the sides which is sexy as hell IMO. Talk about rim protection.

No rubbing right?. Has anything been jeopordized like gas or MPH or ANYTHING?. Can you turn all the way to the left or right without rubbing?. Just curious
thanks.

PS: what made you go from stock 215's to 225's?
