8.5 might be pushing it on 215... try 225

use the tire calculator somewhere in these threads...

Call and cancel your order. 215's on a 8.5" rim!!! C'mon. Next you'll be asking us about air suspension. But since you asked...

The wheel/tire combo will stick out an additional 19mm(3/4 inch) past stock si wheels if you run 215's. If the car is dropped, it won't stick out too far.

Just so you know though...as far as I know, this "look" isn't "in" anymore, and where I come from...it never was. Don't plan on going to any "meetups" with other 8th enthusiasts. They WILL laugh.

Sorry about being blunt. Don't feel bad, it's just my opinion. Anyone else care to chime in on this one?

According to this wheel size calculator, a 215 size tire should only be used for wheel widths up to 8 inches. In your case, it'd be from 18x6 to 18x8. I'd suggest either a 225 or a 235 (depending on the look/performance you want). Here's the link to a pretty good calculator for you:

If you mounted a 235/40/17 on the 18 X 8.5" rim, wheel.tire would stick out 29MM more than stock. (1 1/4") Get out your ruler, stick it on the sidewall of the tire, and see if you can live with an additional 1 1/4"s. More importantly, are the going to rub? Will you be lowering your car?

18x8.5 +45 wearing 225/40/18 tires and lowered on Eibach Sportlines...fits perfectly, zero rubbing.

You will be fine as stated above, I have a 18x9 in 35mm and I had rubbing issues. That is really aggresive though.

When I placed my order, they insisted that a 18x8 38mm offset would fit fine with no rubbing. I hadent seen many setups on FGs with a 38 offset. The width should be fine since most of you guys are running the 18x8.5 wheels. It's kinda tough to tell by some of the pics.....does the 38mm sit flush with the fender/in a bit/ or sticks out of the fender?
