It'll have stock suspension for now but possibly coilovers in the near future. Two questions, will I be fine on both stock suspension and slightly lowered (enough for finger fender gap) and what do 215's look like on an 18x8? Too stretched? Pics? Should I go 225?
Well you're lucky I'm in a good mood and I have nothing else to do while I am backing up close to 500gb of ****...

18 x 8 +37 with a 215/40/18 will definitely work both on stock suspension and lowered on coilovers. If it were me I would probably go with the 225/40's since they are 18's . I don't mind 215/45/17's (I have them on my 17 x 8's) but from what I have seen I don't usually like the look of 215/40/18's on 18 x 8's, however they will fit and they will provide a little more clearance. Sorry I don't have any pics handy, you're going to have to search through the threads for those. All I know is Jeshua has 225/40/18's on his 18 x 8's (Gram Light Titans, aka rainbow wheels) and he has plenty of pics here on 8th.

If you run enough camber in the front and rear, nothing crazy, just a little more than stock then you should be able to lower the car on coilovers with one finger gap and run the 225/40/18's and you'll be looking good and shouldn't have any rubbing issues except for maybe the slightest rub on big bumps or real hard turns, which I wouldn't worry about.

That's the setup im getting 18x8/37+ on 225/40/18, lowered on hfp suspension (one finger gap)..I'm still not 100% sure what camber to run to get good performance, make wheels fit right and still not get >uneven< tire wear...

Installation in a week, will let you guys know how it goes..

The person who posted that is lucky I'm in a good mood to not flame and rip them open.

As for Addy, I'd suggest to you this canned response:
-1.5 front, -1 rear.

Thanks man, for taking a minute to give some input. I've seen jeshua's car, and know it quite well as he's quite the post whore for his car. Can't fault the guy.

Anyway, I'll look into the 225 thing. The reason I ask is this is the GF's daily. I'm just adding a few touches to it, since I drive it too. She had a lowered Corolla that was HORRID to drive. Just overall too low for a daily. Thus the reason for coilovers on the fg, for adjustability.

No Derek, I'm NOT "lucky" you're in a good mood and didn't flame or "rip me open." I suppose I should gain thousands of posts asking questions you probably asked when you first joined, and every other typical newbie asks. I unlike most have read damn near EVERY sticky on this site. Don't be a dick, as much as you may try to act like it... this isn't /b/

Thanks again for the help!!

As stated.. 7.5 is a very weak fitment.
Thanks for the informative reply.

Just wondering what you exactly mean by the 7.5 being a weak fitment?

I do not like the look of 18", not enough sidewall for my taste but I am unsure why you say 17x7.5 will have a sunken look and not sit flush.

You talking about closer to the top of the wheel well?

You do have me thinking.

What I mean by "weak" is just that.

Our cars can, believe it or not, fit very aggressive fitments as far as civics go. As you might have noticed, you can fit 17x9's down there and still not rub if done properly.

a 7.5" wide wheel on say a 215/45 tire will be sunken. It will sit inside the wheel well, so if you stood at the front of back of the car, you wouldn't be able to see you rim! To some, it's a dilemma just because.. why spend money on rims and have it sit like crap?

It's not the 17" or 18" that makes the difference, it's the width. From the side, yes, 17" or 18" will make or break the car, but from another angle.. if you're too small in the width department, you lose points because it just does not sit flush.

Ok got ya.

Goes back to my original post though as I have seen some pics in this thread that had 17's with a +35 or even +30 offset and the wheels were pretty flush from the pics.

That is what I am trying to achieve with the correct offset on the 17's but without hitting or rubbing.

I should also mention I do want to use any spacers so that is out of the equation.
