More tread or more aggressive wheels?

Aggressive wheels would be good, but that thought gets very costly very fast. Going to a 15.5Lb sturdy wheel over the factory 23lbs. I guess I should phrase this differently. Looking for the widest wheel I can use in 17". What offset is needed to do it and such...

Thx

I think MugenKid was running 17x9 (Not sure of the offset) but I think he rolled his fender and he was still rubbing a little. I would say to be safe 17x8 with +40 offset or you can probably get away with 17x8.5 with +43 or +45 offset.

the +33 on you example is the offset of the wheel. Offset is how flush or how much the wheel will stick out from the fender. The lower the number, further out it is. Stock SI is +45 so if you go higher than that the the wheel is more inside the fender. The lower it goes the more the wheel extends towards the outside. Hope that makes sense. Thats the only way I can explain it with out using much technical terms.

The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel.

As pgFA said the lower the offset the further the wheel will stick out.

If your considering 17 x 8 +33 I would be interested to hear what your dropped on if your lowered and what size tires you plan on running.

Anyone know if the 18x7 45mm offset 215/40-18 (HFP Wheel Fitment), which I have now, will work if I change to 225/45-18 tires?

I already know the 7" wide rim will work for that tire size. What I'm concerned about is whether the larger O.D. (+1.2") and wider section width (+0.4") will rub.

I'd go with a 225/40 rather than a 45 to try to keep it close to the stock diameter. But it may work. Not sure exactly.

I would stick with the 225/40. Plus I dont think that tire size will look good on our cars... on a 17 sure but on 18's it may look a little too big...

how would my tires look that are 115/45 on a 17x8 ?

would it be rubber bands? they look fine on my stock wheels.

Is the hub bore size on the 8th gens 64? I am looking for 5mm spacers and need that information.

Thanks.

im running 17x8 225/45R17 +45 offset with a 15mm spacer clearing Spoon Sport Calipers No rubbing issues what-so-ever. I am going to be lowering her about 1" all around on Buddy Club N+ Coilovers. I am jsut waiting to finish my engine and get it back in.. Too low to work on the floor and jack if I drop the car.

If I remember correctly, it was posted on one of the vendors Work sale thread, the Work xd8 18x8 weighs 23lbs. Same as SI stock.
