pry 225/40/18. Would 18x7.5 +40 work better then 18x8?

Quite possibly, yes. That extra half inch of wheel width does contribute to the overall width of the contact patch. It's not a huge difference, but it could make a difference between rubbing and not rubbing, depending on the suspension upgrades.

Welcome!

What size is the wheel and tire you're looking at? Personally, to play it safe, I'd go with the 45 mm offset. It will give you the breathing room to lower your car or make other suspension upgrades.

"18x8 MB Motoring Rev
40mm offset
5x114.3mm
Polished finish, overall finish is very good, clear coated from factory, no peels.
Some blems as seen on the picture gallery.

Falken Azenis ST115 Performance Summer tires
245/40ZR/18
They are still in good condition, holds pressure. The ex-front tires are worse off than the rears cause they came off a front wheel drive vehicle.
Chrome lugnuts included and a special adaptor for the lugnuts "

Anyone know if these will fit on my coupe? The suspension is stock.

That'd be a first, I think. And my guess is that it'd rub.

a 235/40 might work... would probably still require some work on the fender lining.

has anyone run anything with a 30mm offset or lower. I was looking into running 18x7.5 with a 30 or 22mm offset. Does anyone know if this will work. The tire would be 225/40.

I'm just curious, I still need to measure and see how close they are to sticking out of the fender. Otherwise if it's to far it will look stupid.

would 17x7.5 +40 offset rub in EX?
would they be ok?

EX is the equivalent of the Civic sedan here in the Philippines.
TIA for the inputs.

+22mm will stick out of the fender. +30 will be flush, or slightly sticking out. The lowest on the site has been +20 w/ spacers, or +35mm w/o.

I'd suggest against it though, as lower offsets throw off your suspension geometry.

Would you think 19" Volks GT-V would have fitting issues?
