Wheels with TPMS

Does anyone know if there's a list of wheels Brand/Model that would accommodate the TPMS from 08 Civic? Trying to figure out which wheels to get. I thought that you can just move the sensor from one wheel to another but I was talking to the shop where I was suppose to purchase the wheel (5Zigen FN01R-C ) and they said that it wont work. The only 5zigen wheels that would accommodate the TPMS is the Sport Engine. I dont mind the wheel itself but Bronze is not an option for color. Can anyone verify/clarify this? I also email 5Zigen USA but i doubt they will answer. I know the TPMS topic has been discussed before but there was no definite answer when I searched. TIA.

you can add universal TMPS sensors to aftermarket wheels

check The Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels

just enter your car info and pick out some rims (any will do) and it will pop up with a TMPS warning and give you the option to add the sensors (installed).

So how will those universal sensor work with the stock receiver from the civic? I'm just a little confuse. So basically, i can still use any aftermarket wheels and all i need is to add the TPMS to those wheel?

I dont exactly know how well they work with the stock unit. I would imagine there is some standardization, at least to a point. Tirerack has always been a stand-up company in all of my past dealings with them. I dont think they would sell them without first having tested them with OEM Honda equiptment.
I have also done a bit of research in this area. You can order the Honda OEM TMPS sensors Either at College Hills phone order or Majestic Honda's online store. I dont know about the fit of the OEM sensors on aftermarket wheels. The only speciifics I could get from Tirerack was that their TMPS sensors were a "universal fit". Another thing, you can only get them from Tirerack if you order wheels. But I am sure you can order what they stock from another internet supplier.

/those figures seem wrong to me now...I will go back and check my email corespondence

You should be able to get either the OEM unit or an aftermarket one on to any wheel you like, if the OEM unit around the valve doesn't work, you can use a strap to attach it or an aftermarket unit. However, if you don't use the ones that came with the car, you'll need to visit a Honda dealsership to get the new ones to work. It would also be a good idea to make sure that they're compatible. Hopes this helps, I'm looking at the same problem you are so I've been looking around the last few days.

This is too much of a hassle. I even called American Honda and guess what they told me... "It's really not recommended to change your wheels to an aftermarket one because we dont know if the TPMS would function properly."

black electrical tape FTW! sensors have a specific frequency that are specific to your car. there are companies like Dill and Schrader Bridgeport that make the sensors for all the big guys like Honda, GM, and blah blah blah that make them for a lot of other people, like Discount Tire i know carries them. But the only thing, is they just don't have like a GM part number but are the same frequency at a fraction of the cost, almost half. Also, i know there are things that are sold for like a TPMS relocation kit, i have gotten one in the past when i got wheels installed on my Tahoe from Discount. But that is just me.

I dont think I'll be able to stand the warning light or the black tape. I wish it was as easy as getting the wheels, putting the sensor and your on your way...
