08 Si Wheels do not fit my 08 EX

Hey there,

I recently picked up a new 08 Civic EX (love it) and decided that I wanted to add wheels/tires from the Si. I picked up a set off of eBay for a decent price, less the TPMS sensors. I went back to the dealership, ordered the sensors, had them installed and then the tech mounted them to the car. Everything looked great except that the driver’s side brake caliper does not clear the inside of the wheel. It rubs.

The first question I have, is, has anyone else experienced this?

The second question I have is what would you recommend to fix this? I noticed that there are various kinds of spacers available. Some as small as 5mm and others starting at 10 and going to 40. Do I really need to extend the lug nut studs for 5 mm?

Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Great, thank you for the info. I'll call around locally and see what I can come up with. If I can't find any locally, any recommendations?

or you can grind down the caliper a touch and not have to use spacers... i'd grind them repaint if i were you.

Hey there, Thanks for the Advice! I looked at the caliper and decided not to grind it down. I ordered a pair of spacers from a local place which are do in tomorrow. Should be all set after that, with a trip back to the dealer to program the TPMS system.

Cheers!

Hey bro, dont get wheel spacers, thats gotta be the dumbest thing you can do for a daily driver. You ll get wheel shimmy, not proper fitment, and its basically a bandaid fixit.
Better would be to just grind off a slight part of your caliper. Its not going to affect your caliper in any way.

I think I'd find another dealer if they put si wheels on your ex and let you drive it off with the caliber rubbing and didn't bother to let ya know...as Napoleon would say "Gosh, Idiots."

I agree. wheel spacers aren't good for long term use IMO. Most of them are just too cheaply made and the wheel doesn't set in right. It'll look better, function better, and be cheaper to simply grind the caliper a tad. There are no upsides to the spacer so why do that?
