I don't know too much about Gram Lights but I love my Traklites. They're 17x8, weigh 15lbs each & only come in flat black.

The only thing that scares me about the Traklites is the fact that all of them I've seen are stamped "Made in China". Your Ray's wheels will be made in Japan, but not forged like the Chinese Traklites? Right now Chinese stuff doesn't have the best rep around - Look at all the Chinese tire recalls.

I've thought about the same thing too!

I spent 1600 for Tracklites and tires from the tire rack. Kumho Ecsta at $94 each. I like them a lot. Made a huge difference in handling, acceleration and braking. If you are going to hit something hard enough to bend a forged rim, it doesn't matter who makes it.

People will bicker till the end of the world about JDM parts. Rotas suck because they're made in the Philippines. Blah blah blah. I had Rota Slips on my EP3 & I loved them & had countless number of people ask me if they were Spoon wheels. I was honest & told the truth. For the money how can you go wrong with Slips when there is only about a 2.5lb difference between Rota & Spoon but a HUGE difference in price. For the price of one Spoon SW388 you can buy a set of four Rota Slips. I didn't have a single problem with my Slips the entire time I had them.

BOT - I bought my Traklites two weeks after purchasing my FA5. It's a hard argument for me which was a better mod for my FA5 between the Traklites & BCRH.

GramLights have the designation "f" or "c". The 57f will be the forged version, thus costing Rays price, while the 57c is cast, which costs substantially less.

There are some Centerline wheels for $ 249.
I called today and they have either the RPM's or the Storm for this price.
They are not offered in black though.

No offense, but taking 2.5lbs. of material out of a 17x8" wheel, and making it significantly stronger in the process, takes some serious engineering an manufacturing skill, which is what you are typically paying for when you buy forged wheels.

Sorry...not trying to hijack the thread.

Other than Motegi and Centerline, the only thing that comes to mind is TireRack.com recently had a closeout deal on SSR Competition wheels (or Type-C, whatever), and I believe Gunmetal was an option. I think they were half off, so about $299 per wheel. Those weigh about 16lbs. for an 18x8 wheel!

I feel you man I had slips on my last car ('98 GSR) and the wheels held up fine. I honestly don't have much against a clean set of rotas, especially a style or finish you don't see everyday, now black slips, I'm sorry there just so common.

Me personally I just went to save up and spend the money on a quality set of wheels, not only for there weight savings but because it will be a wheel no one else has done on an FG, or atleast not in the same size and finish.

To the OP, both the Tracklites and the Gram lights are nice wheels IMO. If I had the choice between a tracklite and a forged Gram light I would go with the Gram light.

As far as color goes, I wouldn't go with a black on the Galaxy Grey unless it has a polished lip (but you said you don't like them already), if I were getting tracklites for my GG FG I would get them in that machined silver finish, but thats just me.

Have you considered the Enkei RPF1s? I know they're not forged, but they're very light and apparently relatively durable too.

On a related note, Motegi Traklites vs. RPF1s -- opinions anyone?

those are nice, but are very popular so alot of ppl have em. and if your looking for lightweight these are not the way to go. i think they weigh 25lbs or more.

i would go for the RPF1's i think they look really good. ya they arent forged but lightweight and are made by a company who has been in the game a while. not to mention enkei makes honda's rims.

RPF1s are as light as a lot of forged rims, and are known to be very durable. I find them ugly, but for functionality they have great bang for the buck.

I haven't heard enough about Tracklites' performance on the track, so it's an unknown as to their durability. But if you're not planning on tracking, it's a moot point, and I'd get the Tracklites for the lighter weight.
