running 255 tires in the rear!

i didnt think it could be done. but picked up a used set of rims with 225/40 tires in the front and 255/40 tires in the rear put them on earlier and drove around. everything seems fine. any harm that would come out of this?

You have it reversed. You want the front to have more traction since the car understeers in stock form. Hence the wider tires should be up front rather than the rear.

whats the point of having that wide of a tire in the rear of a FWD car? handling? i would guess 255s in the rear would have no advantage of 225s

I'm sure it looks cool, but that setup isn't functional.

Don't run those tires - as mentioned before, the only kind of staggered setup you'd run for a FWD car is a wider tire up front.

However, you'd only really want this for drag racing at the track and 255's wouldn't fit the SI without some serious fender rolling.

I suspect that if your tires are staggered then the wheels are as well. What are the widths of your new wheels?
