Did Tirerack mistype or am I misinformed

I'm trying to upgrade to 17" wheels for my LX, but still need to get tires that will fit. When I went to a tire shop, they said that I needed 225/45/17 tires (stock tires show 225/45/16) but tirerack says it's size 215/45/17... anyone know anything about this?

Thanks!

tread width / profile / diameter

I thought the stock tire was a 205/55R/16

Choosing a lager/smaller tire will affect your handling and how your speedo reads..

this link compares the tires for you...

If you are going from 16" Lx steel wheels to 17" wheels, you are going to need tires for 17 inch wheels. 215/45/17 and 225/45/17 will both fit, but 215/45/17 is "stock" size for a civic. Stock LX tire size is 205/55/16, but there is no way those will fit on your new 17 inch rims.

215/45/17 won't change your speedometer
