Cool 225/50/17 too big?? or just 225/45/17

hi guys, i recently bought some rims from one of my boys and i need to get new tires. one of the members here had te-37s on 225/45/17 n i loved the chunky look n the tires. but im wondering, would 225/50/17 be too big or would 225/45/17 be good enough. i currently have 215/50/17 n they look pretty tucked in (in the rear) with skunk2 springs. Appreciate everybody to chime in n drop their .02 cents

I think that running 50 is throwing off your speedo (i.e. you are going 64 but your speedometer says 60... not too good!)

You don't rub running that? I would think you would. I'd say just go with 45...

if you plan on going offroading, then it would be the 50s. if you don't, get 45s.

I don't know why you would want 50. That will throw off your speedo more and will probably have inferior handling.

225/45's work great on my 17x8's.

Remember, even if the sidewall ratio is the same, the wider the tire the taller the sidewall.

It will make the 17s look even smaller, you'll get better gas mileage and better ride. lol The speedometer will also be off.

225 is 10mm wider and the sidewall is gonna be 4.5mm higher.

215/45/17's for me

it may be a psychological thing, but 225 makes the tires look like they are eating the wheel or something...
its not a big difference, but its too much tire for me in my head.

Too much meat. I'd go with 225/40/17.

good luck finding tires in that size about the only thing made is some hoosier slicks

225 45 17 and 215 45 17 only have like 4/10ths of and inch difference in height

<--- sells tires for a living so knows a little to much about them
