Si wheels just put on EX!!!!

I LOVE THEM! They are just as comfortable as the 16" stock wheels. I'm still rolling on stock suspension, but the performance in cornering and braking have doubled, if not tripled!

I'll get flamed for this, but I put the Nexen N3000s on there. I LOVE THEM! Very sticky, quieter than stock and the Toyos I had on my 16". They drive smooth as could be. I was also really surprised that it took so little weight to balance them. There is 1 oz or less on each wheel (I did have them road force balanced)! I read so many positive reviews on these tires on all different forums (Honda, Suby, Mitsubishi, Nissan, etc). I know they won't wear long, and I'll be lucky to get 25,000 of of them (340 AA A); but for $60 a tire, who cares? I do think that Nexen is the next Hankook and Kumho. Priced low now to get there stuff/name out there. DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THESE TIRES! Funny thing, on the side wall tread, next to the Nexen logo, there are little Michelin Man logos all around the tire. I'm guessing Michelin has some interest in Nexen?

Might I enquire how much you paid for the Si rims? I'm about to sell mine and I'm not sure what to price them at. You can PM if you want. Thanks.

How did you get the clearance in the front? Did you use spacers, if so where did you buy them at? Sorry, I am going to buy some stock Si wheels for my LX this weekend and want to know how people are dealing with the front brake calipers.

Just used a grinder and dremel tool to remove the little ridge left from when the cast the caliper brackets. That is the only thing that was in the way on mine when I test fit them. I then sanded it smooth and painted the calipers. You can't even tell anything was modified.

Didn't want to do spacers?

BTW - the little ridge looks like something that Honda should have removed anyway. I had to remove a little more material on the driver's side... this means it shouldn't be there.

You sure? I thought legal was 35/20 here :\

edit: Here we go...

Texas
Before 1988 Model Year:
AS-1 / 35% Film / 20% Film / 20% Film / 1988

1988 Model Year and after :
AS-1 / 35% Film / 35% Film / 20% Film / 1988

Enforcement Note : Illegal window tint can be the reason for failing state safety inspection.

But I digress... beautiful rims! :)

I hope it's legal, since the dealer installed it

No, when we had my wife's car tinted, they told us that it was recently changed to 25%. The last car we had done about 5 years ago, it was 35%.

If I have to, I'll take it to my dealer and have them inspect it... it will pass there

EDIT: From TX DPS website - http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/Misc/faq/tint.htm
What are the actual state driving laws for after-market window tinting?

View the reference in the Transportation code :
§ 547.613. Restrictions on Windows

Windshield
Glass coating or sunscreening devices
Cannot extend downward beyond the AS-1 line; or
Cannot extend more than 5 inches from the top of the windshield without an AS-1 line.
If sunscreening devices are used above the AS-1 area of the windshield, the light transmittance value must be 25% or more;
The luminous reflectance of any additional sunscreening devices used must be 25% or less;
Sunscreening device cannot be red, blue or amber in color.

Side Windows
All side windows must have at least 25% light transmittance and luminous reflectance of 25% or less, over the entire surface area of the window.

*Rear (back) Window
If vehicle has left and right outside mirrors, there is no minimum light transmission requirement.
If not equipped with both outside mirrors, the rear window must have no less than 25% light transmittance and a luminous reflectance of 25% or less.
The manufacturers installed glazing shade band is excluded.

^I have the Si wheels on my EX... you need 3mm spacers on the front only. You can get them here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wheel...QQcmdZViewItem

To the OP ... car looks great, one of the best mods for a non-Si IMO

How much did they run you. I got my practically brand new 06 rims for $220 new tires ran me another $260 and spacers for $15. Def need 3mm spacers for the front. Drop it 2 inches and it will look real hot.

TRUE, as of sept. 1st 2003, we are allowed to have 25% net on the side of a car, and 25% net on the front of MPVs.

Texas Tint Law Enacted: 2003

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN TEXAS?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Texas, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 25% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 25% of light in.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

PS.....Nice wheel.....and car. Look exactly like my car beside the sunroof.

A buddy of mine asked me the same question. There are 2 reasons why I bought the LX coupe. First is price, there was a $4,000 difference between the LX and SI. Second is gas mileage.

I'm perfectly happy with the LX, but the stock wheels look like crap. The SI wheels make such a huge difference. Not to mention there is definitely a noticeable difference with handling once you switch wheels.

My Civic is silver. I bought the '07 wheels which are a little darker than the '06 wheels. I'm not 100% sure if I like the color better than the light '06 wheels. I paid $600 for them and I drove about 3 hours round trip to pick them up. The tires were upgraded to Michelin Pilot Exalto tires. I feel like I got a pretty good deal.

I would have bought a Si, but the wife insists that both our daily drivers are automatic , plus the added MPG is good too!

If I had enough money, I would get an Si for my weekend car. But right now I'm saving up for my '79 Vette that I have wanted since I was a kid. I already told her that it WILL be a stick. She said that's fine, since it won't be a daily driver!

Sometimes you just have to keep the wife happy. If I were to become single, the EX would be gone and a Si would be in my driveway by the end of next week
