what i need to paint rims

i know a couple of people have DIY's on this but i wasnt sure what paint they used and i dont have a spray gun, and i really am to scared to mess up the sanding part. so i got a RR SI and IMO the black rims on this one look real good, so because im broke im gonna paint the stocks so i was wondering what kind of spray paitn people have used that has worked for them. i just got some very high heat engine paint(DupliColor) but i dont know if thats such a good idea considering its not really made for out side weather conditions(snow, rain, etc,) without sanding down the wheels adn using no special adhesive how good would the paint work any suggestions are welcome, oh i would prefer them to be flat black
kind of spray paint and brand and where to get it...
easiest way to get teh job done well..
thanks in advance

first of you shouldn't be scared to paint or sand. When you paint it will cover up all the sanding grooves, as long as you use a fine enough grit. I used Dupli-color paint products that you can get at any car parts store. And just follow the directions. It's that easy. If you need more info pm me.

all you have to do is scuff the rim. then paint it w/ any duplicolor paint,1st coat light then heavy2nd and 3rd.then a couple heavy coats of clear coat. if you bake them the paint will cure faster.wait a few days to wash them though
happy painting

I got a quote to get all 4 rims painted with 2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear coat + red honda emblems painted on from a really good body shop for $200. Sound good? I'm not sure what I should expect.

If you're nervous to sand and paint your own rims (like me), then I'd definitely do it!

maybe i will just sand the rims, the paint should even everything out youre right, but i really want the flat black finish, and clearcoat will make it glossy. can i do anything about it, besides just not using clear coat?

If you want the flat black color then you can buy hight temp paint that comes in flat black. I have a friend that used high temp paint and they came out really nice.

its really easy actually. i really never used spray paint before and im very happy with how mine came out. dont worry about sanding. i used 320 grit and wiped them down with a tack cloth. the primer will cover everything anyway. i used duplicolor self etching primer, graphite wheel paint, and their clear coat( 2 coats of each).
