Is ROTA Wheels a reputed manufacturing Company?

hi guys,

i have been offered 17" rota wheels by a dealer for my civic sedan 2006 at the price of 370$ a piece!

my question is, is ROTA WHEELS a reputed brand name?

2nd question is>>

size 205/50 R17 a comfortable size for a sedan with five persons sitting in the car without making any adjustments to the suspension?

other wise i will stick to 205/60 R16 as the stock size!

That seems like a lot for a Rota wheel. From what I have read they are decent wheels. People love them and others hate them.

They have been suggested to me as a decent "starter wheel" in the past. From what I've gathered they tend to flow toward the cheaper-but-not-crap side of things.

And 2nd on the bit pricy wagon.

Rota is a nice wheel company that is on the cheaper side in pricing and average build quality. Many Subaru owners buy them.

With that said... $370 a piece is ridiculus.

$370 a wheel for Rotas is absurd. Even in those Canadian fake-dollars that's high (if that's where you are).

There's really nothing wrong with Rotas, I've known plenty of people who've owned them and never had problems. They get a bad name from some people because pretty much all of their designs are copies of established and well known Japanese wheels. Rota is based out of the Phillipines, hence a much better price. Purists call them cheap knockoffs, and that's sorta true. But it's also true that they offer pretty good quality, light weight and a huge vairety of color/finishing options for a very good price.

All in all, yes they are a great "beginner" wheel because they're inexpensive and offer a lot of options. However, $370 per wheel for 17's is some serious gouging. Typically you can get the wheels at that size for less than 200 USD from lots of different internet sites.

Now just don't buy Rota Grids or Attacks and put "RAYS" stickers on them... Toxis and ILL FG 2 will hunt you down in your sleep.

rota is a good company, known for their cheap but reliable rims. they also make a lot of replicas of more expensive rims (build quality isnt exactly the same but its close enough if you just want the looks of it)

with that said that is very expensive for a rota wheel. ive seen whole sets of rotas go for 400 -600

First of all, that price is WAY too high for any Rota wheel I know of. Secondly, Rota wheels are quality pieces that are reliable and well finished. While they may not be among the ultra-trick feather light forged wheels out there, they are stylish, strong and affordable.

Rota makes quality cast wheels for the aftermarket and many other OEM's around the world - the amount of volume they do is simply staggering. Moreover, Rota is reknown for their customer service...

I'm not even a Rota dealer, but I chose the C10's for our own 06 SI because I love the Mugen MF10 style but couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money if I didn't have to (and I could take any number of wheels right out of inventory here).

Subydude is a good vendor and does a lot of volume with Rota - he's trustworthy in my book.

in spring when I get wheels, it will either be HFP or ROTA. They seem to be pretty popular on other forums for the price.

theres also http://www.machiii.net/Rota_wheels.html

rota's IMO are the best rim for the money... I had a set of slipstreams on my hatch for days and did lots of track days with the car... they are a bit fragile but what do you expect for the price.. i once hit a 2x4 on the freeway and it taco'd my rim.. why are you paying so much for the rim? I know a place here in san francisco that is a distributor for them..let me know if you need the info.. the company name is mach 3 and its off of ocean street.. i got my rota slipstreams 16" polished lip for 585 out the door all four!

Exactly - Work Emotion CR-Kai's are considerably less than $370.00 per wheel - more like $295.00 per wheel shipped for 17's :)

Hold up...is that with tires? If not, way too much. Why not get the HFP's. Got mine $220 each in 18's and love them.

I love Rota's. Not sure about where people get ideas that they're not durable. They're actually more durable than some forged wheels. Some people actually use their Volks as showoff wheels and Rotas as track. They're lightweight, don't bend easily, and are really cheap. IMO they give the best bang for the buck, hands down. The only downside is the finish, which isn't as strong and as consistent as other brands. But it's not a big deal.

Plus their customer service is awesome. I mounted a wheel, realized they gave me the wrong color and they replaced it for free (typically wheel vendors won't let you return if you mount it). Great service.

I'm looking at Rota Grids... and it seems that all the local shops tend to hate on Rotas.
I called one place and they said that the quality is crap and its just not worth it.
Sure I'd love to have works or volks, but for the money and for where i live, its just not worth it with all the rocks and stuff.

and they are all charging me 950 - 1100 PLUS tax.. and for Rota's, thats insane.

although my cousin has track r's and they look amazing. if you like em, get em.

I sell Rotas at my shop and $125 is the base price for a 16 and its $15 more for 17 and another $10 for the few wheels they make in 18's $575-650 shipped depending on your location is all you should ever spend on Rota. Decent wheels from the price but they are cast they aren not light but they look good and at least they are painted well which is more then i can say for motegi and they are mostly cast as well but have tons of overspray
