take off hub caps?
Well i got my '07 LX coupe about 2 weeks ago, i don't plan to get new wheels (HFP or some black wheels /chrome lip) atleast until spring because it wouldn't make sense to get right now because its winter soon. Should I take off my stock hub caps? I think i'd rather have the black look than hub caps.
any pics with stock steelies? |

NAh dude, it depends on the color of your car, but i took my hubbies off to spray paint them and my civic looked real cheap, i suggest you spray paint them, everyone tells me that they look like rims anyway, oh by the way my civic is silver, ill try to get some pics up soon.

If you take off your hub caps intentionally I will personally jump through the computer screen and beat some sense into you. That is the single ugliest thing you can do to ANY car, it makes it look like you just got some rims from pick N pull. It doesn't make it look like you have black rims, it makes it look like your hub caps fell off.

I live in the southern US and don't know too much about dealing with snow and winter weather .... my question is: Is there a reason no one buys an extra set of alloy wheels of some sort to mount winter/snow tires on? Is it a cost thing, does the winter road gook mess them up too bad? There is no way I could have those ugly steel wheels on my car for several months out of the year, I would have to get a 2nd set of alloys to mount the winter tires on.

I decided to play around and paint to see what it looks like, since if it looked too bad i'd just take them off. Didn't need to take them off to paint. I just used a piece of paper to cover the tires when spraying. I used Dupicolor high performance wheel coating - Graphite grey (6$ can), looks like gun metal color. Id recommend to EX alloy owners. can't wait till spring when i can buy some real wheels. I'm getting the HFP lip kit sometime next few weeks.

it shouldn't come off unless you scrub it directly with hard sponge or something. If you want to make sure it stays on for long time, sand the hub caps with like 2000 grit sand paper. I used 1 can for 2 layers and still got enough for 3rd layer.
