225/45R17 Tires on stock Si ?

Hi,

Is it possible to fit 225/45R17 tires on stock civic si setup? Will it rub against fenders or suspension? What needs to be done to fit these tires.

Thanks,
Babel

There are a few people on here running 225s. I don't think there's any modding necessary to do so.

I have that size tire on my car dropped with Tein springs. Haven't heard them rub yet ( keeping fingers craossed) I have them mounted on 7.5" 17 inch rims with a 45mm offset

On the wheel and tire fitment guide on here, it says you can run a 235 with a 17" 45 offset. I know there is atleast one member on here that is running a 245 on a 17". When I asked him if there was any rubbing issues, he said that only in extreme circumstances. So I'm getting ready to put 235's on my car with s-tech's in the next couple of days and I will let you know.

yeah guess what...think about the profile too

215 45 17 is NOT the same as 225 45 17

you will ride quarter inch or so higher

I have fitted 245 45 17 race rubber on the Si with stock suspension. It rubs in only one spot, on the little plastic screw holding the fender liner almost at the top of the fender and no where else. Now this was during hardcornering autocrossing fun. I would not recommend a 245 45 17 setup of street tires for the street as I found that you'de have ti give up a bit of steering feel and steering response. I also found out that the LSD is a bit weak when you throw in wider size tires. I again found that out during autocrossing, where I was spinning the inside wheels ever so slightly cornering under power.

I would not go beyond 225 45 17s.

My .02 cents

Doesn't increasing the width on a narrow rim cause more sidewall flex?

Yes, and more side wall bulge where the tires make contact with the pavement

I think its the other way around. A bigger tire will make your speedometer read lower since the speedo reads off a sensor in the tranny. For the same tranny speed as before, the car will actually be going faster due to the larger tire (225/45 vs 215/45)

I have 225 45 17 mounted on an EX sedan if that helps with no rubbing.

I have 225/45R17 on stock Si rims and suspension, no rubbing. I like the look of the larger diameter tire-it is noticeably larger in diameter and width (to me). Some would say it looks a bit "ballooned" on a 7 wide rim, but I like the extra protrusion because it helps prevent curb rash and gives just a bit more sidewall to protect bending rims and take the California pot holes on my commute. Perfect size.

Good luck with that one. 225's is even pushing it with springs.

I almost bought 225's but then I realized I will rub cuz I am on sportlines. Its possible, but... my theory is honda put 215's on for a reason, so personally I like that that way

Each tires is sized differently too. I am going to put 225/45/17 with Sportlines very soon.

i have 225/45/17 Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R's on the stock Si wheels and I am also lowered on Sportlines. I've only rubbed like twice and it was taking a corner really fast. You can corner spiritedly without any problems but if it is thrown into a corner near it's limits, it will rub. I plan on increasing the negative camber this summer and we will see if that helps. Oh and it only rubs up front :) no problems in the rear.

That sucks. Not dealing with any rubbing issues ever again. What a pain in the butt that was in my SVT Focus with 225's and sportlines.

i've only rubbed a couple times... 2 I think... so it's not even really much of an annoyance because it just doesn't happen enough lol Changing the camber should fix the issue. We shall see.
