Do i need centering rings?

So, i have ordered some Advan rz 18", they are getting installed along with many other goodies on January, so i want to order everything i need now, since shipping overseas takes forever.

The wheels do not come with centering rings, do i need these? is it better to get them? do centering rings differ depending on the wheels?

-if it helps to know, drop: hfp camber: spc rear arms and front bolts.

Thanks for any helpful responses.

you should be able to order some from the place you get the wheels from. just tell them you have a hub diameter of 64.1mm. most wheels will use 73.1 so i assume but you should check with whos selling you wheels. if you they dont sell you them, atleast find out, then you can get something like this:

Hub ring aluminum 73.1/64.1 [AN731-641] - $0.00 : Bimecc USA, Catalog

Wheels differ, and one of the ways the differ is the bore size. That being the diameter of the hole in the center that fits over the car's hub. The hub on 8G civics is 64mm, so the hole in the wheel needs to match that in order to properly center the rim. The fit between the bore of the wheel and the hub is what establishes the alignment between the two, rather than the lugs.

OEM wheels are engineered to fit the car they come on. As such, the bore in the wheel will match the hub with no centering ring. Aftermarket rims are generally designed to fit as wide of selection of cars as possible, and as such have a larger than necessary bore and rely on a centering ring to adapt it down to the hub or your choice.

Given the kind of money that Advans cost, you think they could afford to have seperate versions with the bore size of your choice. If this is not the case, you will need a centering ring that adapts whatever the bore size is on the Advans you are getting to the 64mm hub of the civic. This centering rings are generally .1mm larger than the hub to allow enough clearence to fit over the hub. .1mm is less than .040", allowing them to fit over the hub.

So, how do i know what bore size does the RZ's have?

i got this from my quote:

POSelID: p1011: o814:RZ Wheels 5x114.3 18x8.0 ET+37 - Dark Gun Metal - GT-R Model
Wheel Selection:RZ Wheels 5x114.3 18x8.0 ET+37 - Dark Gun Metal - GT-R Model=+339.43W+13

Does this code include the bore size?

once you receive them, measure the bore on the wheels with a caliper to determine the size you need.

do you know how to use a caliper? its not very difficult. also, simply calling any place that sells the wheels should suffice as well.

edit: i just realized that maybe you dont know what a caliper is in terms of a tool and not brake component:

it'll say on the box what the hub bore is. you could always e-mail Advan and ask as well.

Bump!

Just got this from the company "The size of hole in the centre of Advan wheels is 73mm"

so the bore size on the wheels is 73mm, my hub is 64.1mm, true?

So what centering rings size shall i get? where to get from? heard that plastic is better than metal since it doesnt rust, true?

thanks.

1. you need 73(outer)-64.1(inner) ring.
2. you can get it from any wheel shop, or ebay
3. not sure that they make steel hubcentric rings. I'm pretty sure mine are aluminum (no rust).

i'd order them now so you don't have to wait for them after you get your wheels.

Excellent choice with the RZs, I thought you'd be going volk by the sounds of your thread.
