Winter tires/rims

This is on an 06 SI.

I need to get some winter tires and steelies. What size do you recommend?. Do you think that a set of 16 inch winters and steelies would be able to clear the caliper/brakes?.

If the 16's will clear the brakes, thats what im planning on doing (gives me more sidewall and are cheaper).

Thanks
-Shawn

Im looking @ getting some steelies as well.

I remember back in the winter there was a guy from Ottawa that had 16" steelies on his FBP Si, but for example the stock Honda 16" steelies dont clear our calipers. I feel like just going to a tire shop, saying let me try a 16" steelie and see what happens.

As for tire size.......Im thinking of going with 205/55 R16. What brand is still up in the air at the moment.

Hope this helps you out a bit Shawn-o

i know the 02 RSX 16" wheels clear our brakes so thats another option if you dont like steelies. i think if you look for another 16" steelie that honda has for another vehicle with the same brake size it could work. if you really want to go overboard you could just get 16" rota slipstreams for the winter, haha.

Zesti, i didnt know you're from brampton, i am too. whereabouts are you in the area?

No way your from Brampton too??? Im Dixie and Bovaird area. Whats your area and what car are you driving?

I was thinking about getting Slips, but I figured I didnt want to get nice rims to wreck them in the winter.

I'm with ya. I'll just stick to steelies for the winter. One less thing to clean.

i cant stand steelies really, just looks bad on such a nice car. theres a guy on TCC selling 02 RSX S gunmetal wheels (with curb rash) for $300 and regular 02 RSX S (not as much curb rash) for $400. costs a little more than steelies but would look better in the end.

Are the front discs the same size on a Si and the EX?
