im going to woodburn on saturday...went to PIR the past 2 weekends..
if you havent been there yet, theres a $10 "registration fee" that gives you a # thats good for a year...after that, its $25 per time you go..so, $35 the first time and $25 everyother time after with-in the year.. if you run a 13.99 or under, youre required to wear a helmet. the "late night drags" go on, on friday (5-11p) and saturday (6-11p)... PIR isnt a real drag strip, they use the straight from the road coarse to do the 1/4...dont get me wrong, its a real track i guess, but you wont really get your fastest time there. The track isnt prepped as a drag strip. go to woodburn on saturday, i posted a thread about it.. edit: if you want to do the road coarse, its a whole other deal..expect to have to take a class, get a license and spend a **** load of cash. I'm a staff member for almost all the club days out there as well as a Senior driving instructor for most of the clubs.
The only thing you'll need is a SA2000 or M2000 or newer helmet and a proper safety inspection. You're looking at around $180.00/day to go out there which includes an instructor all day(for most clubs). They have days out there all the time and there are no license requirements or class requirements or anything...just the aforementioned safety check. PM me or email me and I'll fill you in on details if you have more questions. If you want to know what days you can attend, check the PIR calendar for the following: Porsche Club BMWACA Rose City Corvette Club Grand Prix Imports (Lamborghini of Portland) Alfa Romeo Club Lotus Club NW Lotus of Portland/MotoCorsa Adrenaline Racing Prodrive Shelby Club Cascade Sports Car Club Team Continental You can attend any of these days with any car that you own. (ie: you dont need to have a Porsche to attend a Porsche Club day). And trust me...road course is a crapton more fun than the drag strip. Why only go 1/4mi when you can do 2.0 miles and 12 turns? Heck, even a stock Si will hit 120 on the front and back straights.... Last edited by Adrenaline Racing; 04-28-2009 at 07:34 PM. |
