why dont they sell the whole system? and that system doesnt have the same tip as the system for the sedan on their website

http://www.meganracing.com/products/...=533&catid=102

And 435.00 is quite a jump from the 380.00 price for the sedan.. Whats up with that?

Also, its only 2.25" midpipe, wheres the 2.5"?

IMO, not worth it at all.. Thanks for the update though, cheers

They do sell the whole system (mid pipe and axle-back make full system). Price difference is their call and also the fact that shipping is well over $60 on this unit (shipping exhausts is not cheap sometimes if box is oversized and shipping carriers force them to be a minimum weight!).

damn fine offer, only thing throwing me off is the canister tip, i love how it is on the sedan, and it seems for the axle back they made the beginning of the tip more bottlenecked, killllllllssss me...

Any idea of what the exhaust sounds like?I wonder how it compares to Tanabe,SP2,Vibrant.Also,I read that this exhaust was supposed to be 2.5 inch, but the web site says 2.25.

Here are some sound clips I recorded 6 months ago of the exhaust:

It's the best I have.

whos car is that?

now is that the prototype exhaust, or the midpipe and rear section they sell seperate? Also why does the rear section canister TIP for the 2dr look different then the 4dr canister TIP? seems like the sedans TIP looks like a tanabe super hyper and the 2dr canister TIP looks like an apexi WS. What gives?

I dont know why you are calling this the same exhaust as the prototype, not only is the design different then the prototype, but its 2.25" compared to 2.5" and you have to purchase the midpipe and rear section seperate, thats not a complete exhaust system, thats buying a pipe that happens to fit the rear section, doesnt sound like its been tested together for max performance, thus the seperate sale.. Just sounds fishy... Wouldnt waste money on this until some light was shed on the above issues and I see a dyno of gains, cuz I doubt it is competing with other oval canister exhausts.. Also the stock piping diameter is 2.25", sounds bootlegged to me.

not trying to hate on this product, im in love with that prototype and its sound. This sounds a little different and its not being marketed as a full exhaust system for the si, its 2 seperate components and designed differently, just wondering why?

the exhaust in the video IS the prototype and it says who's car it is in bold red letters in the post you're questioning.

The 4dr exhaust was completed a while back for the R18 model. From what I know, there are no official 4dr Si exhaust systems in the works. Depending on how the sales of this exhaust goes and the demand for the 4dr model, I can pass the word to the boss and get it started.

The exhaust for the Si coupe model was developed almost 2-3 months after the 4dr R18 model was completed. I decided that the style they were developing looked OEM when installed on my car, and that was definitely what we were after, so I requested them to keep it that way.

Again, I was the original prototype for the Megan Exhaust system (as well as several of their other products, and will continue to do so) and worked directly with the owner of Megan to complete it. From what I understand, the reason why they sell both portions is because some people may want just the piping and run with the stock tip, while others may want the complete catback exhaust system w/ the megan axleback as well. If you take a look at Megan's website, they do a similar setup for the EP3's because alot of the forum members requested just the piping portion. We decided that this was the best route to go just in case anyone wanted a similar setup.

As far as dyno gains are concerned, I had my vehicle dyno'd with Church Automotive a while back with an Injen CAI and JUST the catback portion (stock Si axleback) and dyno'd at 198.7hp/146.5tq on the Dynapack Evolution RHAS-SP.

Take what I say with a grain of salt and believe what you wish. Had I not prototyped for the Ti-C, I would still use the Megan Exhaust any day of the week (unless of course I wanted to buy the Toda exhaust, then I'd switch for sure. ).

P.S. Oh, and the only difference between Kurt's Prototype Exhaust (the one I originally owned) and the final production model was that the prototype was slightly crooked. That's it.

Dan (shglbmx) said everything. I tried to give you rep, but I need to spread it around first, haha.

Anyways, the exhaust is sold in separate pieces due to the fact that some people enjoy to customize. The mid pipe allows for the exhaust tuner to use their mid along with another brand's axle back. This is becoming very popular with many lines since their are multiple axle-back only out there.

The clips sound very good guys and I truly appreciate it!

Also, remember we have an additional limited time special so do not pass it up! I have extended this special to Thursday.

Have a good night :)

Did anyone find out if the pipes are 2.25 or 2.50 inches?
