Is Kuwait dangerous?
I havent kept up with the news enough to really know, but a friend of mine that was in the marines and survived the shit in Iraq got a job armoring Humvees for a pretty penny in Kuwait. My question is, should I be worried for him?

No you shouldnt be , i was born in kuwait at 1989 and lived there until 2006,lots of my friends are still living there ..
there was some terrorism for a little bet of time , but now its all safe just like before because of the great police/army they have and because of the help of the american army there for sure, no lying kuwait is one of the safest places in the world .. and its so damn fun to live there btw...all the malls and the open minded community , i would die to go back there ... no alcohol for you thought lol

So Kuwait doesn't follow Sharia law then? Or is it just really relaxed there? Last edited by civsnake; 06-03-2008 at 02:17 PM. |

Saudis deny women at all , they do study and work and all .. they dont let them drive .. because the society there is not used to have that kind of contact with women and there would be alot of troubles, they let them wear the traditional outfit that covers their faces because its their choice in the first place, women simply dont want to show their stuff to anyone but their husbands ... its just their cultural,if you go to kuwait and see something you dont like and start saying crap about it , you would get seriously hated.. |

gotta understand the middle east is a crazy place... in all actuality unless you're moving around on a kbr route or moving with combat support or combat manuever units youre really not gonna get hassled... kuait is very very very nice in comparison to what he went through as a marine... trust me

How much do they get to study? And how much do they get to work? Why is the fact that they're "not used to having that kind of contact with women" a justification for not letting women do anything? In the southern United States they weren't used to paying their laborers, but will you tell me that slavery is okay? What about the women who don't care about people seeing their faces or covering their hair? Why don't they get to make that choice? I understand that it's their culture, but that doesn't mean we have to like it or pretend that it's okay to do these things. If I happened to be in Kuwait for some reason I would be as polite as possible and would most likely refrain from initiating dialogue on this subject, but if someone asked me how I felt about the position of women within certain Muslim groups, I wouldn't hold back. |
