$2000 a year for a shitty school laptop? What a god damn ripoff college has become. For that price I could get myself a nice laptop that would last me all 4 years, instead of spending a total of 8k to use their sh*tbox.

office 2007 sucks. i hate that they changed the extension from .doc to .docx. i work at a university service desk and we get calls all the time b/c we are using office 2003 and professor are unable to open students documents that were created in office 2007. luckily all they had to do was download the file converter.

wish we could use that, but we have to follow the school requirements and be able to support it. i actually got to put XP on my Mac so I can test out Parallel and Boot Camp. But now we have moved from Parallel to VM Fusion, which seems to work the same.

Wow. That's all I can say at the moment. Maybe I could buy it for $60, and sell it for $600. Ten fold!

Well the laptops aren't bad. You get either a macbook (not pro, lame) or something I think is called the Toshiba Portege 700? I chose the toshiba one. What you're really paying for is a lot of hassle-free stuff. Any problems and you bring it in, swap HDs and you get a new laptop. Stolen? New laptop (for $500). Damaged? $200 deductible for a new one. Plus it comes loaded with all the software.

Now, I think it'd be a good deal fi you didn't have to pay 2k every year. After the 2nd year you get a new upgraded one, but by the time you grad, you have a 2 year old laptop (and you have to pay like $200 on top of the 8k you already spent to keep it).

Like college students know how to access the internets. They don't have licenses to go surfing down the series of tubes.
