well the corvette is an amazing car that is for sure, but till the cobalt ss, I dont think gm had a single sport compact worthy to compete against the si, atleast not in north america.

you should add turbocharged to the title cause my buddy has a cobalt ss and its pretty much a regular car. But yes the new turbo ss is pretty damn awesome.

Im serious here
you guys dont think I was surprised?
I mean, the same company that made the cavalier now has made this
check out the specs at motor trend or someplace cause its got the 0-60 in 5.5
but you also have to keep in mind what a si would do with f/i, and i think i know which one would be faster to drive

If my transmission isn't completely fixed by this 'fix' they have out, I'll probably be trading it in in a year or so for it. My payments would be like $200/month max. And that thing gets seriously awesome gas mileage if it really does get 22/30 out of an engine that powerful.

I was going to get the SS supercharged before I got the Si, but I did alot of research on the ss forum and heard some horror stories about the transmission. One guy had one that looked like a grenade went off at like 7,000 miles.

So I got the Si instead and guess what I got? A faulty third gear! It'll get fixed eventually. I only have 7,000 miles on in a year, so I'm sure it will get worse and the dealer will "replicate".

Well we'll see how this one goes. I'm impressed by the fact that they have shit built into the car that fully endorses you dumping the clutch and launching. I'm also impressed that they did it 600 times back to back and it didn't break. If i launched 50x in my SI back-to-back, I don't think it'd be lookin pretty.

I have nothing against the SS supercharged/turbocharged cars. I think they're great! Competition doesn't hurt anyone, usually it helps us. Manufacturers have to compete for our dollar and interest, so the consumer wins. They are impressive cars, and its nice to get all that horsepower + warranty and good reliability. Pretty sharp looking cars, (I liked the big wing) but I think the Si wins in the looks department. Tail lights look a bit funny on the cobalt, but they still look good none the less.

My friends car is the shit. 2007 SS Supercharged Cobalt.

He painted the bow ties to match the car and he's working on other things but I'm not sure what.

Definitely sweet cars.

With gas going up, I don't see too many more performance models coming our way.

Agreed. Hopefully the restylted cobalt in '09 will look a lot better, as the SI definitely looks nicer to me as well. I really hope the next gen SI is 240+ BHP since it's one of the last N/A cars putting out rather low numbers now.
