2008 or 2009? Which do I get

So I'm ready to buy another Si now. I was going to wait until the end of April but now I'm debating whether I should wait for the 2009 refresh or get the 2008 knowing I can probably get a lower price on the 2008. I really don't want to wait till September or later since I'm selling my bike this spring and I don't want to go without something fun to drive this summer.

For those of you who don't know I sold my '06 Si last March for a couple of reasons and got a Mazda 6.

I started a poll and wanted to see what others thought.

Refresh might be worth buying, if you can find it at MSRP or even invoice.

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT, if you can't wait...nothing wrong at all with getting an '08. It's going to be 99.9999999999991% the same car anyway.

hmmm so the mazda6 not cutting it for you or you gonna have two cars??? whats the color choice this time? i say wait for the 09's if possible that way you can see what they change but it will make the 08's even cheaper.

My Mazda has been a great car but it's just SOOO boring to drive! I could deal with it having a bike to ride and abuse when I needed to relax and just get away but since I'm selling that I need a car that is fun and I loved my Si!

I'm open to color options but I'm leaning towards FBP or NHBP. I'll get rid of the 6.

Whichever one you can get a better deal on, barring something that comes out with the '09 that is an absolute 'must have'.

Ugh, I'm somewhat in the same position as you are here. I'm contemplating trading in (maybe replacing with another Civic, but probably not an Si), but I don't want to do that until I see what the refresh does to the car. If I don't like the wheels or changes made, I'll just get an 08, but...

That's a hard call. I really don't know.

Are you SURE you want to get another Civic? With the luck you've been having....it's liable to have the "No Doors" option as you exit the lot.

I just wish something would leak on the refresh soon so I could make up my mind.

Edmunds has it listed as "refresh" on the Civic for '09

I'm for all 2009. If refresh is hot, you will be glad you wait. If not, there should be some 2008s still hanging around the lots.

Yeah I would be pissed if the '09 is hot and I went with the '08. It's more a matter of waiting for me I think.

Chad, for my part, I would love to see you get into an Si ASAP. I love your Mazda and all that, but would love to see another Si when we Minnesotans get together for a meet.

Unfortunately, info has been sketchy at best regarding what will come out in '09. The car would be do for some refreshening as some have said. I can't see any major changes though to the car or drivetrain. This is a hard choice indeed.

One thing to consider is that since the transportation bill that the Democrats got passed in the Mn. Legislature, license fees are going to go up substantially on new cars. The law will go into effect in May I believe. It could end up costing you a few more hundred dollars to get your new car licensed.
Also, the sales tax will be raised, I believe either a quarter or half percent. That alone could make a big difference in what you pay out the door. Something to think about.

Mike, you are not selling that gorgeous FBP Si of yours. You are going to get that transmission fixed under the TSB/recall that is going on. You will continue to have the shiniest Si that shows up for our meets in Minnesota. As your father-figure, I want you to listen to your old dad.

Haha! The transmission will be dropped the second the fix comes out. Walser Honda has me as the "first" customer in line. They've had others come in to complain about third gear, but they haven't been able to replicate any but mine. About damn time!

I'm currently getting a new steering wheel put in (as my blasted audio control/cruise control trim is falling off) and a horrid rattle in the back deck fixed.

Now if I could only do something about the creaking from the plastic on the armest/driver's seat...
