What is RICE to you?

I come to ask this question, after posting on a thread where I was defending a Scion Tc that in my opinion was not rice.
To me it appears that the term is used wayyyy to loosely.
First off, rice to me = someone who cheaply mods his/her car, and COSMETIC upgrades (all show-no go)
I just find it ironic that the Honda community would use the term sooo lightly.
When anything Honda is associated with "rice" by naive people.
What are the standards for "rice" now a days i really can't tell.

YouTube - Cynce Tester Scion tC
heres that scion.

I'd say that scion is borderline 'rice', IMO. It was, for the most part, tastefully done. The only thing I dont relly think works is the 'widebody' for that car. That would probably be the only 'rice' thing, imo

Rice, to me... is when it seems there is no though to a mod that is done. I dunno, its hard to describe... but i also do agree that the term is used far too frequently.

Rice is a keystone of the grass family that produces a vast number of grains consumed by humans. It has been under intensive cultivation originating in Asia for over 4,000 years and has since spread across the world, where almost a third of the population depends on rice for vital nutrition. Rice is in the genus Oryza, which is separate from that of wheat, spelt, and similar grass crops, although it resembles them in structure.

Rice, like most grasses cultivated for human consumption, is an annual crop that needs to be resown for harvest each year. Rice is grown in partially submerged fields, also called paddies, and when mature, the plant reaches a height of approximately three feet (one meter). Rice has a classically grass-like appearance, with a small cluster of kernels at the top of a long stalk. Rice is harvested when it turns golden, and the resulting crop is threshed to remove the hulls. Many developing nations use the chaff of rice as fuel for electricity generation.

That tC is pretty tastefully done and as Phalanx said, the only thing that really doesn't look all that great is the widebody kit.

RICE:

UGLY CAR:

They are !=. Simply put, it is difficult to injest a car, nor is it easy to grow or harvest them.

there's creative, then there's tacky

but hey, 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'

personally, i like simple things, so i dig simply modded cars
nothing flashy or eye catching
but that doesnt mean i consider show cars rice

i will respect how people choose to mod their own cars the way they want no matter what until they start bashing on others or myself
