Hit and run

Somebody smacked into my brand new 08 the other night while it was parked on my street, causing a good deal of damage to the door and front 1/4 panel... of course they did'nt leave a note, took off, and I did'nt see who did it.

I am reasonably sure who did it but I don't have 100% proof (but I do have a lot of solid evidence). I already confronted them, it's some young 17-18yr old that lives near me, and of course he denied everything. Where he parks, where I parked, plus corresponding damage on his bumpers (which are the exact same height as the damage on my car) are all pointing towards him.

It wasn't side-swiped by someone driving down the road, as the damage is inconsistant and the mirror is not damaged, it is from that car backing (or going forward) out of that driveway...
...this is going to turn into a insurance nightmare, I just know it

I haven't had a chance to have it looked at yet, but I am concerned a bit about axle damage, too. The tire and rim don't look damaged but how can you really be sure?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

IMO it looks like he didnt doo it. his heavist scratch is at 20" but you dont really have a scratch at all at 20", also looks like white paint on his bumper. but like just my 2 cents

that was more for bumper height; there is damage on each of the 4 corners of his car

shit man i feel ur pain, u should file a complaint against that guy, and the cops can have his car and ur car exmined, go and take pictures of his car, look for paint marks that are the same colour as ur car and take several picutures, also take video of exactly where the damage happend and show the damage that the guys car had, iam sure u can lay charges if u got good evidence

considering all the other cars on the road, his car is the only one that has any damage that matches height perfectly... plus it was parked right accross from his driveway.

You see, it was an icy night, so my guess is he just left his driveway too fast and slid right into my car; which would've been fine if he owned up to it.

I'm going to the police tomorrow to see what I can do.

thanks for all the feedback

Good luck man. Hope the damage to your car is only appearance related.

Hit and run. The amt of point they will put on his record will make it so expensive that he would need to give up driving.

Hope you nail the bastard.

i had one on my old car, smashed out my tail light and the tailgate... the janator at school got hid licence plate... i didnt notice untill i got to work.

then the next day i asked around and then went to the cops. they wound him, when i saw him i said,

three ways we can handle this, one i get my bat and go over your car and we call it even, two, you give me $1000 right now or three i make this a nightmare with insurance...

I got $800 out of him withing 30 min and i ended up leaving the damage, go a spair light at the wreckers... then 2 years later painted my car and got new ricer tail lights.

For your situation i suggest option one, BEAT THE HELL OUT OF HIS CAR and call it even
