Tips on Starting a business??

So my dream (if dental school doesn't fall through) is to open up a Bar. Not just any crappy bar though; I wan't a small Tapas Bar/lounge. If anyone has had experience opening up a business, can you give me any tips on what to expect? How can I approach possible venture capitalists? what is a reasonable amount of $ to have before pursuing this idea?....or just any other general thoughts/comments.

instruct your tenders to stop serving or bouncers to take keys of the overly drunk... that way you avoid a lawsuit
