As if Fords didn't suck enough

In a move that can only be described as 'Copyright Insanity', Ford Motor Company now claims that they hold the rights to any image of a Ford vehicle, even if it's a picture you took of your own car.

Ford pulled that same garbage on Jaguar XKE owners... because we know ppl posting calendar pics of their 40+ year old vintage cars will surely hurt Jaguar sales. What morons. Glad Ford is feeling the hurt.

Microsoft tried doing the same thing with their video games (Halo). They're asking for royalties and such when posting on a public website that asks for donations for staying open, IIRC.

It's to prevent the trampling of the Halo name, apparently, as they do not want people writing and/or making fiction using the current universe without at least consent from MS.

It's lame, but people are getting desperate, trying to protect their intellectual/physical properties from "slander".

Shame on those greedy corporate bastards. Seriously.

They're lucky they are even still in business. Isolating and turning on pretty much the only people (next to cops) who still support one of your vehicles (and only because its historic name tag of what it once was) is not a position you are able to be in right now Ford.

Shame, shame, shame. How upsetting that is.

Remember, Lotus ALSO tried doing the same thing. Any car with a likeness similar to the Esprit would be deemed a copyright violation. Needless to say, that did NOT fall through.

Free advertisement if you ask me.

What if the car is paid for? I would see "royalties" paid at purchase time you know, incorporated in the price of the vehicle. lol

Way I see it; a photo in a artistic representation of the way the photographer sees his/ her subject. Wouldn't the photographer own the photo itself?

I have no legal studies under my belt. I am thinking ralistic...

Nobody seemed to care when I took pictures of my 87' Escort Wagon, then it again, it was blue, not black. Why does it always have to be about color?

Completely unrelated to the topic of this thread, but in the Consumer Reports I just got, ford was heavily praised over most car companies. They don't suck as much as you think - if they had an SVT focus back that'd prolly be my next car

Don't laugh. Honda did the exact same thing to us.

Our calendar was completely cock blocked this year by Cafe Press since Honda is pulling the same move.

Yeaah, totally. I'd rather have a company try to cover up for five years or more a fundamental transmission flaw, resulting in thousands of wasted hours and frustrations dealing with inept dealers who claim they can't replicate the problem.

Honda is crooked just like the rest of them.

That's what I'm here for. People take me too seriously. I love my car deep down, it's just that I'm an anal picky bastard.

Any comments on the anal part from anyone and heads will roll.
