Disputing a CC charge

I'm just curious if I have a legit argument in cancelling a CC charge in this case..

About a week ago for my bday my parents let me order a bunch of clothes online from Hollister. Literally the ONLY reason I picked Hollister over A & F or AE was because they had this one particular shirt I wanted that went well with another one so I just decided to go there.

Anyways, I bought a polo for $29.50 and then an undershirt for another $19.50 just to go with it. I open up my box today when I receive it and notice the one polo isn't in there, and some ugly olive green polo is (which I did NOT order). I emailed them asking why it wasn't there and they told me they didn't have any left in my size so they just decided to replace it with the same shirt, different color. I told them I didn't want it nor did I want the 20 dollar undershirt I got for it and now they're telling me I have to pay them to return it.

I really don't see how this is my problem when they took it upon themselves to change my order without alerting me. Now I'm out $50, which is more or less an 8 hour day of work for me over some undershirt I'll rarely ever wear and a 30 dollar shirt I'll never wear. I'm considering emailing them back and telling them I'm going to dispute the entire $300 purchase (can I just dispute $50 of it?) if they dont' send me a replacement shirt, give me a credit back on the shirt or send me out a shipping label so I don't have to pay for the shipping.. is this reasonable?

request a chargeback under the reason refusal to accept return for the two items plus any taxes. then after you get the money back for that tell them that if they want the shirts back to send you a prepaid label.

Call your CC company and ask what their policy is for chargebacks. I believe most have a rule of $50 or more.

no, first problem was spending $50 on two shirts, one of them being an undershirt.

I coulda got like 8 things at old navy for that much.

and I'm sure you had to agree to their policies in order to purchase online. One of those policies was the return policy, which you obviosly failed to read. That's the problem with society, we all blame everyone else when something goes wrong. If you had read the policies, you wouldn't be in this situation.

I got a pair of jeans at Kohls the other day. my wife actually said, "is that the only non old navy item in your wardrobe?" to which I responded, "yes"

their clothes are cheap and they last.

you should look into express clothing. I hate the south side prep clothes. Abercrombie with the moose, hollister with the bird, american eagle with another bird. get express the lion roar. haha..jk... dude just drive to the mall and buy shirts..you dont need shipping and handling, plus you can try them on and be able to return. IMO buying clothes online that is accessible at a local mall is ghetto. Unless you are buying a 8thcivic shirt then thats okay. Anyways i drive to the mall 30 minutes away. I just love cruising in my fg2. You should try it sometime.

Wow.. I wasn't asking any of you to comment on my clothing choices.. The most a shirt on avg. goes for at hollister is around $40, maybe more if you buy a big hoodie or something. An avg polo or whatnot, though, goes for $40. Is that really that much? A few months ago some dude posted about his $500 pair of jeans..

I have plenty of old navy shirts.. they suck! It's true, you really do get what you pay for. In my old navy I feel wierd because the shirt doesn't hang very well with your body, even the smalls/mediums. With hollister shirts, I get get a small/medium and it just looks good. Fits better, looks better, better quality. The saying 'you get what you pay for' applies with everything, clothes included. Seriously, go buy a Hollister shirt and then tell me it doesn't just 'fit' better than the $12 polos you get at get old navy.

Anyways, I dont' care what people think about my clothing choices, I just had to set you straight so that maybe you can see the difference between the two I got a msg back from hollister and they're going to send me out a free shirt because the one I got was apparently a clearance item and they ran out after I ordered.. oh well.

**** that go for the full 300 hundred they are supposed to let you know threw email or by phone when something isnt there and hat it will be shipped at a later date they are not supposed to change your order b/c they are not the buyers so basically what they did was made an unauthorized purchase on your card...

First off, it's fine and dandy that you think Hollister is overpriced but no one asked you for your opinion on their pricing. So back off.

Second, where does it say that Hollister reserves the right to replace an item in your order with something similar? I checked their Help section and it says this:

Hollister is the one at fault. The OP should not have to pay to return/exchange the items as Hollister is the one that ****** up.

another problem in our society is people running their soup holes without knowing anything about the issue. Have you read the policy? Do you read the fine print on everything or something as simple as a shirt order?
