DMV question..

Well I would have posted in the California forums but I don't think there is much people that go thru those forums so anyways here it goes..

Will the DMV pay for a vehicle? As in, will they pay to get one off the road to help out with polution? I heard that you can take a vehicle to them and they will pay you around 1k-1.5k for the car, and they either trash it or sell it or I dunno what they do with it but that they pay you. Is there some truth in this or...?

P.S. I did some research on their site already but couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance guys/gals..

A few family members that have been trying to convince my dad to get rid of his POS GMC Vandura or something like that. I finally talked him into it and letting me borrow the money made. So just wanted to get some reassurance(sp?) before walking into the DMV and looking like an idiot.

Funny, I was just talking about something similar with one of the guys at work on Tuesday.

He said (I don't know how true it is) that if you trade in a car in CA, the LEAST the dealership can give you is 1500. He said something about it being a law and how that's what they are required to do to get the car off of the road....

I haven't read the links that trapshot68 posted, but hope this helps as well (even though it's hearsay).
