Rant = Police + Honda bias = almost jail for changing lanes

So yea im driving south on US1 in miami florida. Its 8 pm and theres still a good bit of traffic. Im going around 40 mph and I see an officer in the right lane of a 3 lane road stuck behind traffic going around 35. I think nothing of it and proceed to travel in the left lane and about a light later I speed up to around 47 on our huge speedometers, signal and change lanes to the middle, then signal and change lanes to the right lane.

Shortly after I see a car speed up right onto my ass (turns out its the cop from earlier) and I figure hey he's just gonna run my plates and go along his merry way, not the case.

Turns on the lights, I make a right turn and find a safe place to park for the both of us. Turn on my interior lights and turn off my XM Radio - The joint (roots reggae) which was blasting.

License insurance registration (I had just gotten my expired registration taken care of the day before luckily, and handed him the expired registration by mistake....good thing americas finest didnt realize that)...

As I'm handing him my info, I ask him why I was pulled over. He asks me what I thought it was for and I explained to him yea I sped up while changing lanes to make a safe lane change in our rude part of florida.

He then proceeded to tell me I was going atleast 55 mph, (speedometer never went above 48 and that was the peak of my lane change, I explained this to him). He then told me I was trying to race the guy next to me (I still have no idea who this was or what make of vehicle I was trying to race, and I was shifting for economy at 3,500 rpm). He then tells me I can be arrested for racing.

Above this he tells me I didn't signal my turns which I did. He proceeds to tell me he can make my life miserable and he hears all types of stories everyday and by the way I made the panels in his cheap car shake I had to have been going atleast 55 mph.

At this point its my word vs his. Although I was telling the truth he could have handed my ass to me and just lied based on his hunches

All this bullshit just because I have a big H on the trunk of my car.

I had to have been racing while knowing perfectly that there was an officer behind me and making his car shake from 2 lanes away

Well an old lady stops by us asking for directions and when he's done with her he turns around and tells me to GET LOST and walks away

So yea thats my rant. Officers have a tough job and I respect them for what they do, BUT alot of them abuse their power and disrespect the people they are here to protect.

I have a pretty much stock fiji blue fa5. If I was at all modded and in a coupe I would have had no chance at getting off of false charges.

Its been a while since a good rant, enjoy

I know for a fact had I been driving a bmw, or a corolla for that matter I would not have been accused of racing in traffic for switching lanes

exactly. everytime when i drive my white 1998 toyota camry on the freeway and drive around 80-85 mph, cops don't give a crap about me. and the last time a got a speeding ticket for going 80 mph on the freeway will my RR SI. i'm just flowing with other traffics, and got pull over because all the other cars are minivan, sedan, and truck, they're all white, black, and silver, i'm the only one that is a red honda i guess. we're all going at the same speed. there are semi truck who's going 75+mph when his speed limit is 55 mph, and the cop went after me instead.

Red + sporty looking car + young male = you're the one going to get pulled over. Sad but true

You got away easy. Listen to my story... It's 5 o'clock in the morning and i'm driving on NJ turnpike: NYC to Ocean City, MD. Have to be at work at 10 o'clock. There's a 65 speed limit. The roads are almost empty, so I'm doing around 80 all the time(75-80-85) NEVER more than 85 NEVER(see our HUGE digital speedometer). Plus I have a 400 radar detector. All this time no warnings. Have to mention that on that zone the Turnpike is divided in two separate roads one for cars one for trucks. At one point I look in my rear view mirrors and I see a cop crossing from truck road to cars road and next thing he does...pulls me over.(the exact spot he pulls me over is like 4 hours away from Ocean City). He gives me a ticket for driving 95(aka reckless driving). When I asked him how he detected that and how did he come up to 95 when I was doing 80 he gave me no answer. Basically he was driving on different road, parallel to mine. drove up to 95 to catch up with me who I was doing 80 and concludes I was doing 95.(on the turnpike all the vans...jeeps and whatever you want to mention are doing at least 75 on a regular basis).
So I make sure I call the court in advance and tell them I am disputing the ticket and I want to show up in court(to their surprise!!!) although I am 4 hours away.
On the day my court appearing was due I wake up at 7 o'clock so I can be there by 12. After sitting in the court room for 4 hours I finally get my turn to speak to the judge at 4 and he doesn't wanna hear anything from me, directing me to the municipal prosecutor. I get my mouth shut from the prosecutor too. I demand to speak to the judge demanding him to show me a proof(knowing there's no way there can be one). He tells me the cop didn't show up but I have the option to reschedule and also mentions that in my case I can have my license suspended but as it's a Maryland license I can get away with paying a 300$ fine and possible points .
I explain him that it's impossible to reschedule as I have only one day off a week and a court appearance takes my whole day. So he concludes that if I am refusing a reschedule it means I'm guilty.
I end up paying only 150$ fine and ALSO 5 points on my license.
I get back home at around 10 o'clock frustrated as shit. Not on wasting my whole day off and 150$ dollars but the points that are gonna drive the insurance crazy.
All this because of an idiot cop that sees my shiny blue car and my Md tags on a NJ road and knows there is now way I'm gonna show up in court and even if I show up I stand no chance.

Even if I would have gone back to court it would have been another waste of time.Think about it...my word against the cop's(plus he could easily have come with a fake proof in the meantime).

Monto, honestly you should not have been going 80 in a 65 to begin with. Doing so with no traffic on the road in the car that you were in is like yelling to the police: "here I am, come get me!".

Yes cops can be asses but usually they won't act on it unless there is something legitimately wrong with how you are driving.

Sorry to bust your bubble but you are a young male in a sports car/coupe. That is the reason had very little to do with the H.

I have been constantly harrased by police where I live for over 10 years only one of which was in a honda. I was told several years back when I got pulled over to get "used to being pulled over, because your car sticks out like a sore thumb". A state cop said that to me some time ago now. It sucks but sadly you have to deal with it.

^ stereotypes live on, although here in motown it's usually middle-aged women in SUVs or minivans that do all sorts of $hit on the road. abrupt lane change with no signal? It's a soccer mom with a cellphone. Speeding down I696 and taking up 2 lanes at times? same deal. Going 10 mph under while having the right turn signal on for 2+blocks? same.

For the ladies, sorry, I'm a bastard I know, but it's also Detroit + its suburbs.

Cops seem to not give a damn about it.

that's was one of my points. He was a scumbag cause if I would have had Nj plates most probably nothing would have happened cause I would have won it in court. But he acted pushed by the fact that my MD tags will keep me away from the court room and just pay a 300$ contribution to the NJ motor vehicle administration.
I never disputed the fact that me driving 80 mph was a driving violation and I am accept the consequences. But why would he make it 95 mph? I am mad on the fact that he added 10 mph just because I was from out of state and just because this would put me in a different violation category and bigger fine (which is double the amount)
It was 28 of May so he probably had to reach his monthly quota.
Did you realist that they are twice as peaky when the end of the month is near?
