Snowboarding season is starting.

For the first time i am going to have a seasons pass. The slopes are only about 45 minutes from my place so i will be able to go after work and i am hella excited. I bought a 07 Gnu 11up board, K2 Cinch bindings (bad ass) and new vans boots this weekend. I got the entire package for $840. Getting a discount on a year old board saves a lot. The place didnt have any of the lib tech boards with the new wavy sides that were last years models so i went with the Gnu, which is the same company. The board has the same core, just the outer finish is a little cheaper i think. My old board is a '99 or 2000 K2 fatbob which is stiff, heavy, and a shitty board all around. I also have switch binding which are side stepins. I never had any problem with them, but they are about 7 years old and i dont think they will last much longer. My old boots are about the only thing i had that was any good and they are Vans. Switch boots are not comfy after a while, and i think i am going to be much happier this year, especialy since i will be going up a lot. i only went twice last year. I gotta get comfortable with my new gear, then i am going to start to learn the board parks and do a little bit of jumping.

Any one else excited or get anything new for this year. Or do you plan on getting anything new?

Damn I really wanna learn how to snowboard this winter. Last time I tried I sucked horribly, but I think if I throw down the cash and buy one, I might stick with it a bit more than last time.

Not for me... broke both my ankles and dislocated my left shoulder pretty bad in February. Still gotta heal up from that. Board didn't really survive the hit either. The tree's fine though!

Nope, it's definitely SNOWBOARD season! I haven't been on Skiis since the 80's (unless you count blades, those things are a blast) I kinda wish I never quit though, skiing has gotten pretty f'in cool again over the last few years! Have you seen the cool shit those guys have been pulling in the X-Games and such?!? You do have to admit that it's because of the snowboard influence though. It's nice to see everyone living together in harmony again... Ski hills weren't such a cool place in the late 80's and early 90's, nobody liked snowboarders at all!

Snowboarding rules! Skiing is for old men and women. Snowboarding season for us in the Northeast is still at least a month and half away.

Maybe you got tired of the rattle. And ratchet notch issues. Kidding.

I can't wait for our mountains to get powdery white coca--snow. I didn't get to go much last year, but I plan on carving up something harsh on the mountain this year. BTW, anyone know what the hell those racks are called and/or where to buy them that mount the snowboards like spoilers? I'd rather have that than a roof rack -- I need the downforce!

I got about a month here too, but baker set a record for earliest snow ever there. Its supposed to be one hell of a winter here again. Last year was nice, but i was broke with school and only 4 day pay check. I got my pass while i still get 5 day checks, so i dont have an excuse not to go.

You sound like someone having a midlife crisis

I ski... am I an old lady then. Skiing is still awesome and still has young people involved in the sport. Free-skiing is pretty kick ass too
In conclusion, w00t skiing!

I went from skiing to snowboarding. I love skiis because I get to go fast on them; snowboarding is more versatile at the parks. I'm excited!!!

*oh and if this is to choose which is better, I prefer a snowboard!

Snowboarding is great, I go every chance I get lol. There's no decent places in Ohio though (at least I haven't found any yet) so I usually have to drive for hours, totally worth it though. Actually have a trip all lined up for this winter, leave in a little over two months.

Also I tried skiing and I suck at it, I mean I really, really suck at it lol. Like I nearly broke my leg on a hill five year olds were using to learn how to ski, snowboarding is a lot easier.
