How to organize CDs?

I download a lot of Japanese dramas fansubs and animes.. etc. And recently I've been burning more and more to DVD medias since my HD is overflowing.

I usually burn them and put them into 1 of my 2 CD/DVD cases, the ones with the plastic pockets. I'm running out of space though, and it's annoying flipping thru the pockets to find stuff.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good/better way to do this? I want to move my CDs into small shelves if possible, but I need a cheap solution. Plus my DVDs are in plastic pockets they can't really be shelved easily.

Any takers? If u know of products I can buy please post a link too. Thanks!

Have you alphabatized them? That always helps. Leave a couple of pages between each letter for when you get new DVDs made.

I'm out of room though, I've got almost 100 CD/DVDs to put away

Maybe I'll just put them all in little CD spindles or something, that's a last resort though

I own roughly 4000 CD's. When I was at about 2500, I took the time to organise them all. It took me about three days, haha.

Dedicate the time to alphabetization. You'll thank yourself in the long run.

I create a list in excel that lists which book and pocket number the cd is placed in. I can look at the alphabetized list and find the disc using the numbers. This helps when you have a couple thousand discs so you don't have to keep shifting the order in the books.

That's a REALLY good idea. I may take the time to do that.

Step 1 - leave car unlocked for a few hours

Step 2 - realize your CD's are stolen

Step 3 - no step 3, .. no CD's to organize!

rofl, that's a lot. What are you putting your CDs into? Shelves, cases, or just stacking them up like mountains?

U know of any other products that are cheaper? Lol. I opened the thread mainly to see if anyone knows of cheap products/tools I should buy to help me organize and put CDs away... beside using CD cases

Most are in boxes in my storage after I moved out my apartment.

When I was living there, though, I had a stack going across my room about thigh high. IIRC, my room was 16 feet across, haha.

That sounds a lot more affordable! Which one would u get? I think the $40 one looks nicer but I'm more concerned about practicality & price it's not like anyone will look at it
