Ouch. The looks painful..
did you get them taken out yet? I'm wondering how to care for them... i know the general clean and antibiotic and what not, but how did you care for them in the first couple days? hurts too much to touch and to clean with antiseptic

I just got them in two days ago, I have been putting bandage on them during the night only. Been leaving them to air dry and heal. To clean them I have just been using bactine, ever so slightly touching them.

The pain is keeping my dog away from my wound, he keeps going near it and won't leave me alone.

I also had a finger cut a month ago while washing the dishes. Word of advice, if your hand does not fit in the glass cup, do not try to force it in. Well it was 6 am and I was hella tired and was getting ready to take my nieces to the museum, when I try to force my hand into a glass cup and it shatters in my hand while going down. I slice a huge piece of skin on my pinky, right where the joint is and I manage to cut a piece of bone and the stuff in between the bone. I got 8 stiches and now I cant bend my finger all the way and it really really hurts my joint when I try to bend it more than I should. Luckily it bends enough so that I can still play the piano but that was my main concern. I took it pretty calm, but I dont usually panic at anything so I took the shock pretty well and the stiches werent a problem. Thanks for joining the club. Although this was not my worst injury, my bone and cut really hurt for 3 days straight with not meds.

damn that sucks bad. I can't imagine all that pain, mine was pretty bad alone.
My only concern is taking the stitches out.. does it hurt?

and how to clean it, its like just 24 hours old and I can't even touch it.. I can hardly touch it with my finger over the gauze and when I bend it a certain way it hurts as well. I don't think I cut any nerves or anything, that would suck pretty bad to have no feeling there anymore though.

Not even tylenol dude?

hey hoanger

how is your ouchy today? Mine is driving me nuts, but I was able to shower today. I taped a plastic bag over the wound. Driving still sucks with my wound but it is getting better.

Hey sleepy!

well, I think its a bit better... I took off the gauze and let it dry out until I head out today. It still looks pretty nasty, yours looks really clean! I don't know how you kept it like that haha.
I think the doc stitched me up wrong cause I can't extend my finger fully without feeling like its stretching... its annoying and cramped ahaha

Luckily I can shower with one hand, but I do it under running water... booo

Oh I totally forgot about driving, is it your right or left leg? Is it a manual? I couldn't imagine using a clutch with a stitched up leg! Glad to hear its getting better!

we can be scar buddies

I have an auto and my injury is left leg but it still hurts if I leave it in one spot to long. I have to keep my leg elevated during the day or I get pain shooting down my leg.

When I first cut my leg I was at work so my first aid attendant cleaned it up and I drove home and walked to the hopital. I live behind the hospital so I didn't see a point in paying for parking. Scar buddies...FTW!!!

I took out the stiches myself and it didnt hurt at all. Maybe just one of the stiches made it a little uncomfortable but nothing I would call pain. Now, i'll be sporting a scar on my pinky for the rest of my life. I didnt remove the gauze or wash the wound for 48 hours. After that I just let water with soap run on the wound and then patch it back up with a lot of neosporin and re-gauzed it. Did that for about two weeks. One my second week I went camping to Baja Mexico and I think the saltyness of the sea breeze made my wound heal a lot faster. Me and my fiance were pretty amazed at how fast it healed over there compared to where I live. My be it's just coincidence.

really? i think my cut is still to tender to let water or soap touch it. I try my best to clean it up with water and a cloth, it looks a little better now.

you had your stitches in for two weeks!? how big of a cut was it?

The cut goes around my joint in my pinky but it you put it in a straight line it was about an inch long. I'll see if I can take a picture of it.

Sucks man, I was playing b ball on a hoop with a chain net 2 years ago and when I went to dunk the ball I ended up catching my finger on a loose wire. Had to get 16 stiches on my middle finger, I got a scar about 2 1/2 inches long but the good thing is I was exempt from taking notes at school for a couple of days
