Here's an odd one:

Next fall my wife and I will be taking another 2 week vacation in the Caribbean. Our last trip we went to Sandals Royal Caribbean (Montego Bay).

However, we have seen the promos for Sandals St. Lucia. (Sandals Halcyon Beach, Sandals Regency St. Lucia, and Sandals Grande St. Lucian). Do you know anything about those resorts? Otherwise we will be going to Sandals Negril for our trip next fall.

yes i do ...
they took over some of our best beaches (grande + halcyon) ... locals are still allowed though but the sandals security people act like we aren't allowed ...

anyway they are all great resorts ... shouldn't be a problem ... u should have a lot of fun and relaxation ...
all sandals resorts are basically great but unlike some of the other islands which they have resorts on, they actually don't mind u leaving the property to go out on your own to tour the country ... in other islands they don't really like when u do that and if u do leave they'd rather it be on a tour bus from the resort ...

if i were you though i'd stay at the halcyon one ... it's more central to everything ...

grande u'll be in the north ... not bad at all ...still close to a lot of stuff cuz the island is small ... but it's in a great location ... u'll be right near to some of the islands most historical stuff (the hotel is situated on a landmark) ... Martinique will be within view on a clear day and always at night ...
close to A LOT of entertainment

regency u'll be almost smack in the city ... nice location ... i never really liked it though ... it's one of the first if not the first sandals resort on the island.

@ 19 (like u) i was @ community college @ home ... hard at work studying building technology... a pain!

i had no access to shoes, except the ones i were given/bought ... access to cars that weren't mine but could only borrow when they were available until a family car no longer had an owner and it was passed on to me..

any goodies i asked for had to be needed ... then i had to wait till it was summer (time to travel) to get them ... then they had to be reasonable as i was forced to factor in the exchange rate ($2.7169) ...

so yeah ... no real access to goodies @ 19 ...

FYI: community college = SALCC - DTEMS = Sir Arthur Lewis Community College - Department of Technical Education + Management Studies... The only community college on the island.
Produced 2 Nobel prize winners ...
Sir Arthur Lewis for which the school was named after (Nobel prize for Economics in 1979) + Sir Derek Walcott (Literature in 1992), his books are a good read!

a lil knowledge ... St. Lucia is the country which has given birth to the most Nobel prize winners as a fraction of its population. so we boast the highest ratio in the world for number of Nobel laureates

PS: just swithing a lil bit from the i have, or i get or i am ... or x5 this or car that ... more substance ... any more questions? i know a lot of people on here didn't even know a place called st. lucia existed ...

Wattup Marvie? Any way, on to some questions....

- Are there any Asians there? If so, how much of the population do they hold?

- What kind of people inhabit St. Lucia these days? I know that St. Lucia was settled by the French and taken over by the British, but I don't know much passed that.

wussup ..
Asians are there ... they just started coming in recently though ... have their own businesses and stuff ...
there was always a really small amount of them ... majority owned restaurants ... great restaurants ...
but now they own textile factories etc and the population is larger ...
i can't say what percentage but it won't be much ... it would be less than 1% and even then we have more Syrians than Asians ...

90% African
~5% mulatto
~3% of Indian descent (Carib+ Arawak)
~1% European

so i'd say the Asians are less than 1%
that's what i recall from the last census ...

i'd imagine that has changed some though ... last census i think was is 2001 ... a lot can change in 6 yrs. especially when the county is so free ...
