Make A Wish

Okay, so my sister was chosen for the Make a Wish foundation, they are sending the family to disney world for 5 days then we are going to stay at my uncles house for 3 days making it a total of 8 days on vacation.

My family has 3 siblings over 18 so we are not included in the 'Wish' but we still want to be a part of it. I was wondering if anyone had any connections to get us down to Orlando September 20th and back to DTW the 28th for cheap or any ideas to help... I would be willing to leave the 19th if its cheaper. but i would then need to rent a car; i am 21 so i think Hertz is my only option there...

input help? anything would be appreciated. thanks in advance!

-Adam

Edit - we also have to come up with our park entrance fees... all the 18+ year olds...

Check Airtran, they seem to be the cheapest out of this area. I know I have flown them out of Flint. Also, as bad as Northwest is we used them the last time we flew to Dallas from Detroit and it saved us $800 over everyone else. Try to book as far in advance as possible as they charge crazy rates if you try to get tickets on short notice.

Take out a credit card that gives a percent back on travel expenses. Some give you like 3% back. On a plane ticket and a rental car, that can add up. Thats all I have for you.

I hate to sound mean or rude or even disrespectful because none of those things i just listed are part of my demeanor (sp?) but the first thing that came to my mind is get a job. I know this sounds drastic but realistically to me this sounds like you are looking for donations or hook ups on a vacation. I understand the circumstances but I still don't get it.

For the best deal on a flight try

www.sidestep.com

They search every airline PLUS all the other search engines (Orbitz, Travelocity, etc.) so it's a true data mining site. By far I have found the cheapest flights there. Looks like roundtrip for those dates is about $119.

I would also contact Disneyworld and explain exactly what's going on with the make-a-wish and see if they would be willing to donate tickets for you guys:

https://secure.disney.go.com/wdw/con...=ContactUsPage

Worse case, PM me the entire story (I belong to a lot of sites with charitable people) and we'll see if we can't take up a collect to help out a bit. If I still haven't signed my business lease by then I could even drive out and give you a ride (not the Civic, but the Titan Crew cab).

Maybe like when my dad was dying all his money goes to his family? If he's full of it, let karma sort it out, otherwise your post was just a dick move.

Caitlin is considered multiply mentally impaired, she is completely dependant upon the family for everything, she can not walk or talk and takes medicine 3 times a day to control her seizures. the family wanted to outfit the house with a lift system but make a wish does not do that... so they decided to send the family on a trip... honestly this is a once in a life time thing..

hmmmm, see if anyone works for a business/corporation that does discount travel/park tickets. i know keyspan does that for us, and i would hook you up with the keyspan discount, but i'm only a contract worker and the discount doesnt apply to me. there's gotta be people on this forum who work for a big corporation. all these huge businesses have deals and discounts for vacation and travel.

Thanks black07coupe... i got the air tickets for 119 a piece today with spirit air... seems to be cheapest around.. i wrote an e-mail to disney with a request of discounted tickets or something because of make a wish, i am just waiting on that e-mail... besides that i am still looking for a car possibly... idk we'll see, we are waiting on an envelope from make a wish with specifics, then i will lock my plans down completely to match the family

Alright as it stands I have my flight booked; we are waiting still for the final word on how many the room can sleep they are getting for the family (parents and younger sisters,) if the room is small I am going to ask my uncle who has a house outside orlando if i can crash at his place... that brings a few more things to the table though... how do i get to and from disney... and the drive itself... not to mention i still need to come up with the cash to afford the tickets to the parks (disney + universal etc...) Caitlin will be taken too... for once in my life being over 18 sucks....
