O thank god. Look, I got rear-ended. Geico cut the check for the repair. Is there any way other than taking them to court that I can collect for depreciation on my car? Being in the business.....I would take off 1000-1500 for the accident on Carfax. It is simple....if there is an accident on carfax your car is worth less to a dealer and to the next owner. How do I push them into giving me a small amount?

You're talking about "diminished value". In short your SOL on that.

Reason being: You can't really prove it without having the car appraised like the day before the accident and then selling it immediately after repair. Yes, that's essentially the answer you will always get.

The only state I know of that honors this type of claim is Georgia, they actually have a formula for it.

You could always take the at-fault driver to small claims and give it a try...can't hurt...PM me if you wanna go that route and I'll help you out...er...as much as I can if outside CA

I work for an insurance company. You don't want to get into this industry! Most people quit within a year. if you are VERY motivated and want to move up then go for it, if not...move on, because low level adjusting sucks!

You pretty much need a 4 year degree and that's all to get started.

Gotcha, California doesn't have any sort of licensing for adjusters. Appraisers IDK...
