Why...so...serious?

Weird, Uncanny or just coincidental moments?
I had a conversation with a complete stranger yesterday which made me start thinking about weird little coincidences in life. I was talking to someone about their dog, which looked an awful lot like my dog, both miniature black and tan dachshunds. They named their dog Reesie. Which I thought was weird, because I had wanted to name my dog that when I first got her. I'm a big Reese Witherspoon fan and at the time, Legally Blonde had just come out. Reesie didn't fit my dog but Scooter did so Scooter she is. Anyway, I thought, that's just plain odd.
So I ask, anyone ever experience weird coincidences in life? Being 5,000 miles from home and meeting someone in an airport who know's your dad or college roomate or went to the same highschool as you? Just funky little weird things. If so , do share. |

Yeah. I kept thinking about it. Sort of weird. What are the odds? They probably thought I was pulling their leg. Lol. I wanted my dog to be totally girly and princessy. Instead, she's a perfect little goofy dog. Scooter is much more fitting than Reesie. I can't remember any of the other names I thought of. None of them had a meaning behind them like the Reesie and Scooter.

I spent 3 years working at this little hot dog/ice cream resturant (it's called Yum Yums). You know the type of place:grandparents took their kids, those kids took their kids, and so on, and so forth. Anyway, I took a road trip a number of years ago (while I was still working there), and ate hot dogs pretty much wherever I went because they were cheap, and I was on a budget. Anyways, I'm talking to this guy up in Maine while eating one of his hot dogs, and I'm talking about this little place I work at in NC, and he say," You mean Yum Yums?" Small world.

I was in a bar in Bordeaux, France watching the World Cup in 2002. There was a Japanese guy sitting next to me. At half time, we got to talking. He asked where in America I was from, so I told him Thibodaux, LA.
His jaw dropped-- turns out he got his BS at the local university there. THAT was weird.

I kinda had something like that a long time ago.
I was at my girlfriends grandmas house with her. They were looking through some pictures of when she, my girlfriend, was a kid. Im kinda paying attention but not really. Then something catches my eye in one of the pictures. On of the kids she is in a picture with has a large birthmark covering his right cheek. I start asking about him. Turns out it was when she was little her and my cousin, in the picture, both went to the same babysitter. And her mother was very good High School/College friends with my Aunt and Uncle.

I just sat down at a bar in O'hare int'l airport and gave my mil. ID for my birthdate. The guy next to me asks if I'm military. I say yes. He asks what branch, I say Navy. Asks where I'm headed, I answer Kuwait, then he starts talking about the base I'm going back to. He was stationed there and left around the time I got there. Weird specially because he's airforce and we don't have many of them there.
One time I was sitting in line to get a new ID. I struck up conversation with an Army guy who was a diver. It's after I told him my "active duty, got out, weent reserves, got recalled.." story that he mentioned he'd been in Gaeta Italy at one point. He fixed a boat that had hit the quay wall. I remembered that boat. I was working down at the harbour when that happend. I told him, me and my friend Veronica used to watch you guys like hawks because of your short shorts. Those guys flew in from the states only to fix that boat. They left a week later. What are the odds. That was almost 2 years ago. He remembered my friend, but that's because she was a total flirt. |

About 10 years ago my family was on vacation from Illinois to California and we stopped at Mt. Rushmore. We were in the gift shop and I noticed a kid from my school. Him and his family were there on vacation as well. We were talking for about 5 minutes when we see another kid from our school. We called him and his family over and none of us knew about the other's vacations.
it was crazy! |

I moved to Ottawa 4 years ago to go to university. Two years later my parents decided to move here from Mississauga (outside Toronto) for various reasons.
So I got a job at a chain store that I had worked at the summer before in Mississauga (now at an Ottawa location). Well, one of my coworkers here in Ottawa, grew up in Mississauga, we lived about 5-10 minutes away from one another, and even worked with some of the same people in Mississauga because we both worked at the same store before coming to Ottawa... just at different times. Totally crazy. There's a bit of an age difference, so we never crossed paths before being in Ottawa. But pretty crazy that we ended up at the same store in Ottawa. |
