Just went through a terrible lightning storm.
I work MOC and control operations on the flightline. We have to notify all flightline personnel when there is lightning observed within 5 miles of the base so they can get off the jets and take cover. Well we were in and out of this all night when we had some lightning come up on us pretty quickly around 0300. It was some pretty nasty stuff we could hear going on outside. Our lightning page on the computer was showing strikes within 2 miles of us. All of a sudden all the phones and radios start going off. There's reports of a strike on the flightline and smoke visible but they couldn't see what was hit. We then get the call from someone who witnessed what had happened. A Security Forces patrol vehicle was struck twice! The A1C in the truck was fine. Apparently the airbag had even deployed. The truck is still dead on the flightline, it won't power up. We were debating whether to call and wake-up our superiors (I'm sure they were awake from the lightning) or just send out an email that they could read in the morning. We sent out the email because he wasn't injured and there's nothing they can do anyways. So how long do you think it would take for you to drive again after being struck by lightning? Would you be able to drive home or have to wait a few days? or weeks? BTW, I already walked out to the parking lot and checked. My Civic's fine, just a little wet

I'd drive again... although you better believe I'd be nervous as hell in the next thunderstorm!
Not to mention, I was reading a book that states everything you do before a tramautic event can "trigger" anxiety about it later down the road. Think if he was talking on the radio or waving to a coworker or something right before it happened! |

my house got struck by lightning! every electronic device that was plugged in fried. What does that mean? New electronics for the whole household. I love Insurance :). There was actually a little hole in my roof where it struck. It had black chars around the hole in the shingles.
