clean your keys?

I accidently put my key through the wash and it went for a full cycle, completely emersed in water, soap etc. to my surprise i tested it on my car and i think it actually increased the range of the remote unlock/lock, butt the alarm button doesnt work anymore

Put it in the the dryer and run a full drying cycle. It might fix the alarm button .

Depends on if you use fabric softener or not. That would have saved the alarm button :)

these keys are strong, my dad lost his on the ski slopes once (and we then had to wait 45 minutes for someone else to bring us keys), they were there for 3 months, and they were found after the snow had melter. I replaced the batteries and they work like new

Yeah this weekend I jumped in a pool with my keys.

Didn't even notice. I just happen to notice something at the bottom, so I swam down and grabbed it. Had my keys and my GF car alarm remote. To my surprise the key and remote still work fine.

my wife washed the key to her 06 civic EX, and it still works like a champ too...i think it might have even gone thru the dryer also.

Wow. Doesn't anybody have a key rack like I do? I put my keys (four sets) on hooks.

Doesn't anybody check pockets in the laundry for $$$ like I do?

I hate key racks, if anybody breaks in they can take the cars quickly and easily.

and we probably have 20k of stuff in the house, and 100k in the driveway

My girlfriend has a Corolla and I had a set of her keys with the fob and lost it. She had been nagging me asking me where the keys were for weeks. I had no idea and was planning to buy her another set. Well, about a month later I was washing all my clothes that had been tucked away in a corner of my dorm and I saw a set of keys in the bottom of the washing machine...her keys. They had gone through a cycle or two, and to my surprise and delight still worked. I was very happy. And yes, they worked.
