The lighting, the make up, the way the face is angled in the picture, how much touch up is use on the photo....

Couple of em are naturally pretty. The one with the hand on her shoulder in the "after" and the one in the wedding clothes with the very short black hair are both very nice either way.

AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the red head at the bottom!!!!!!!! Her before pic!!!!!! That's straight up sausage man....

Actually, I think the brunette second from the bottom on the first page (in the wedding gown) is very pretty even without the make up. So is the hispanic girl in the black shirt with the wavy hair about half way down on the 2nd page. The chubby blond in the pink at the bottom of the second page is kinda cute too.

I also think some of those pics should've been shot at the same angles. They not only made them look better with make-up, they also shot the pics at the angles that made them look best.

some of those are really bad, but sometimes those bad pictures will be taken right after a pregnancy or something so you can't always believe them
