What gift would you want? I need a guy's opinion!

So my b/f's birthday is next month and I have two definite things I can get him. I have a rough idea of what you guys would answer, but I'm checking.

He's been eying a new desk chair for a while since his old one is creaking, about to fall apart and hurts his back.

OR he's been looking at a new radio for his truck since his old one sucks and won't use his sub.

I'm sure you guys would like the second choice, but what're your opinions?? Which would you like?

Gift certificate... and of course you naked in a bow for him to unwrap.

PS - I hope you're a woman. (not that there's anything wrong with that)

Yes, I am a woman!

Gift certificates are boring, IMO. I think actually getting the things he's been looking at shows a little more thought.

Gift certificates are for relatives or people you don't care to think about.

My wife has been with me longer than you've been alive, and she knows better than to try and figure out exactly what I want for a gift.

Even if you know he wants a new stereo for his truck, how do you know you'll get the right one with all of the right features -- same for the desk chair?

I don't think he will be insulted by a gift certificate, and I figure you in the bow is a definite winner. I look at that as playing it safe.

In any case, good luck.

Because I see the exact ones he's pining over in the store? I'm usually there when he starts babbling about how much he wants this or that.

But for real though, I would go up to a good car audio shop and see what kind of gift certificates they have.. You might even get him enough of a certificate that he can get a sub and a nice radio, I'm sure he would love that.

Yeah, I've seen that. Anything over $200 is a little out of my price range. I need money for mods, too! The b/f is only slightly more important than my car... slightly... sorta...

lol....+1

If he said he wanted a specific model of chair or stereo, then go with that. I say things all the time like I want that Progress Sway Bar, I would love to have that H Brace and when it came time to open gifts, I was very disappointed I had no car stuff. If he says he wants something and you know EXACTLY what...Get it!

I second the idea of a good watch. It's more expensive than the chair or radio, but it lasts forever and you get to enjoy it all day every day. You can get into a nice Tag Heuer, Omega or Breitling for not too much money.

I was looking at getting him a nice watch, but he's a paramedic and doesn't want to wear a really nice watch since it'll probably just get vomit/blood/some other nasty **** on it. Plus he can only wear watches if they have a cloth/leather band (which are ugly IMO); metal bands can lead to degloving injuries.

A lot of the upscale watch brands have been using rubber straps lately for their diver / sport watches and it actually looks really good. You could try the TAG Carrera or Formula 1, TAG is probably the most affordable "nice" watch. Otherwise I vote for the stereo.

If you know EXACTLY what chair he wants, then get that.

If you know EXACTLY what stereo he wants, then get that.

If it was me, I would prefer the chair over the stereo. The chair is obviously something he needs. The stereo really isn't. The chair is A LOT harder to mess up or be picky over. Get the chair.
