I've seen people first hand after hitting an airbag (face). Some have had scrapes/ - almost like rug burn marks on their chin/nose etc from the airbag.

my dad has just a scrape or two after his accidents with the accords (wall at 70mph, and deer at 70mph (that time he actually kept driving after the airbad deployed, until the car started overheating)

No it was my mom's old chevy corsica. Im sure airbags would be a little better now but I have my biases.
