My Speeding Ticket Rant!

I was going home from South Carolina towards Atlanta(I-85 S), where we bought some fireworks for tonight... and after eating a 20oz. steak for 9.99, and having a good time driving the whole day. I was pulled over at around exit 93. GSP said I was doing 84 in a 55. And now I am faced with a hellla amount of crap. Court date... IS ON THE SAME DAY AS THE FRIGGIN LINKIN PARK CONCERT!!! @ 2pm. And the possibility of having my license suspended and what not... under the age of 21... doing 25+ over. Is there anyway for some type of HELP?!

I was having such a great day too. Bought over 300 bucks worth of fireworks... had a cheap steak dinner. and was enjoying the long drive.

I mean, I was only doing 84. where everyone else was doing 80 give or take a few. I always do around 80 on that friggin I-85N/S.

And before she had pulled me over. She was on the right soft shoulder... getting ready to take off from a ticket stop... then it was my turn I guess... As I got back on the highway, I had to take the exit. and for some reason I took 85N. not realizing it... until one exit up. made an exit u-turn to 85S and there she was with another victim!!!! poor guy. POOR ME!

Man.... I tell ya, what a great 4th of July.

yeah I know... I know that I will eventually deal with it and move on... It's just that feeling you get afterwards. There's no one here with me to talk to. My gf's at a concert and my cousin's on his way back from Jackson.

I was just talking to one of my good friends yesterday about having my insurance contract 6th month renewal. And said, "If my insurance goes down 100 bucks.. I will start to build my motor for a "high status all-motor." So ironic I tell ya.

This ticket and increase in insurance will set me back, and delay me of buying my house in the next couple of months.

Get a lawyer. Might cost 100-200 bucks but he will get the charge reduced or probably dropped. Make sure you get one that hangs around the courthouse a lot since they are friendly with the judges. They are the guys in the suits. Just walk up to one and ask him if he can do a traffic court. I did this a few years ago and got reduced from +20mph to equipment failure $50+$110 and no points.

your equipment or the arresting officer's radar/laser?

so in other words... if I don't get a lawyer, then I risk having my license suspended. paying for a nicely priced ticket. points on my record... and having my insurance rate jacked up?

I was doing 29mph over... in a 55! which is so stupid... 55????? so stupid. leaving s.carolina, you're passing a 70mph speed limit... then somewhere in GA, it drops to 55.

WTF! (CAPITAL LETTERS SIZE-100 MILLION!!)

That fine is for like a messed up speedo.

Yeah, your gonna pay near or probably more than that for the fine right. I remember Georgia is really bad with speeding fines. I would highly recommend getting one. He would most likely be able to save you the points, insurance, etc. Nothing is for sure though.

Sorry for your bad luck. But going that fast over the speed limit is liable to get you in trouble no matter how many times you do it without getting caught.

Either pay the ticket (under the motto "got to pay to play") or get a lawyer and hope for the best.

Regardless, learn from this and try not to let the same thing happen in the future. Good luck!

25+ is considered reckless driving in most states.

Its linkin park so thats a VERY VERY missible consert (not for you but thats my opinion and yes i have their first album)

Other than that, you should never be the fastest one on the road. That is the fastest (pun intended) way to get a ticket. I never speed like you did alone. Make sure you always have a speeding partner to run with. One night a 7 series, a chevy truck and i did about 120 for 15 minutes one night. Another night different chevy truck and i did 100 for about 45 minutes.
