Why are there no tracks?

Why is it so hard to find tracks, especially for affordable prices in the USA, in germany you pay $20 and you're on the nurburgring.

Just a guess but land near any urban center in the US is is worth to much to build a track. They build condos instead and make a killing.

I'm interested in looking into how much it would cost to open a track.

yea u think that someone would step in and build one i mean since street racing is such a big deal and so many people are dying u think the government would step in and help out building race tracks or someshit.

so in a 16 years vote luke for president and i will get us our race tracks! haha

There are ALOT of tracks in the Country, Racinig is a very expensive sport. Hell even just track time can be. There are lots of ways to get out on the track do a search for HPDE High Performance Driving Events.

For most you can get out to a local Auto-X/Solo event for a rather small amount of money. However, getting time on a circle track, or a GP track in particular, can be challenging, expensive, or near impossible, depending on local laws, track ownership, etc.

Near Vegas we have a privately owned GP track that can be used if you pay for the 'private' club membership ($$$$$...$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, really most members are 'affluent' to put it mildly), use it now and then if you are part of a local partner club ($$$, but worth it for the track time and 'free' events, but would still be out of reach for most young adults), register and attend a driving course offered by the course owners (several options from basic to advanced, $$ to $$$$$$$$), or on the rare 'race day'. Typically, however, liability precludes most of the 'track' venues (locally) from opening their doors to the public.

I am fairly lucky in that a close friend has a membership in the 'private' club and I can go out with him on 'guest days' (more of a 'recruit more rich folks' days). I make a decent living, but I can't afford a membership in a club that costs half of my mortgage...
